Abstract

In keeping with my motivation for authoring this book, that is, to publish a part of Dr. Seeta Jaikaran-Doe’s PhD thesis, I have included in this book, as this chapter, her framework for quality teaching and learning in the twenty-first century. It was developed from extensive research into the TPACK of high school teachers, but as reported in Chap. 7, it is directly applicable to learning and teaching at university level. The framework is based on the “systems level” attributes: support, resources, infrastructure, time allocation, curriculum redesign, and professional development together with “design principles” which include informative assessment, creativity, innovation, access to technology, and social and emotive contact with students. The framework clearly shows the alignment of the Levels of Teaching Innovation and TPACK and how in combination the students will acquire the skills for learning and living in the twenty-first century.
