Abstract

Paternalistic prostitution laws in some form are compatible with the fundamental principles of liberalism. Liberalism is characterized as a kind of political conception of justice that is committed to certain principles of liberty, opportunity, security, and equality before the law. Paternalistic prostitution laws in some form are compatible with all these principles on some defensible interpretation, and therefore compatible with liberalism.
