Abstract
The interruption of Marx’ Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right indicates an ambiguity in the concept of social democracy which is identifiable in this text. Marx claims a transformation of state and society, which would delete the separation between these two spheres. However, the content that Marx gives to the social aspect of this transformation evolves over the manuscript. Marx thus moves from a social policy design, claiming a free public sphere, to a socio-economic theory of society, highlighting its self-organization by activity. This oscillation leads to the abandonment of the original thesis of the manuscript, its interruption, and the reorientation of the Marxian project of critique of politics.
