Abstract

Employing theoretical, doctrinal, and empirical approaches, this book offers the first comprehensive account of the mobilization of constitutional law by Eurosceptic actors. Drawing on constitutional theory and the authors’ expertise in Euroscepticism, it introduces and defines the concept of Eurosceptic constitutional counter-narratives, and examines how such mobilization can undermine the process of European integration from within. The volume includes four in-depth case studies—the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Poland—alongside a cross-case empirical analysis. In doing so, it sheds light on the mechanisms through which Eurosceptic actors construct and deploy constitutional counter-narratives in specific national contexts.
