The Geometric Lens: Resolving the Hubble Tension via E8 Vacuum Strain

Abstract

Title: The Geometric Lens: Resolving the Hubble Tension via E8 Vacuum Strain The Crisis: For a decade, cosmology has been haunted by a ghost: the "Hubble Tension." Two meticulously calibrated methods for measuring the universe’s expansion rate disagree by 5.8-sigma. The Early Universe (Planck, ACT, DESI) says the universe expands at 67.4 km/s/Mpc. The Late Universe (SHOES, Holicow) says it accelerates at ~73.0 km/s/Mpc. Standard cosmology assumes one of these numbers must be wrong. This paper proposes a radical alternative: Both are correct. The Breakthrough: We propose that the universe is not expanding along a smooth, continuous curve, but is descending a "Geometric Staircase" of discrete phase transitions. Using the Pure Monist Formulation (PMF), which models the vacuum as an elastic E8 quasicrystal, we derive a single Master Equation that unifies both measurements: H_n = H_load * sqrt(1 + phi^-n) Where "phi" is the Golden Ratio and "n" represents the dimensional mode of vacuum relaxation. The Findings: Phase 0 (The Screened State): In the early universe (n=infinity), high matter density locks the field. The equation yields 67.4 km/s/Mpc—exactly matching Planck. Phase I (The Present Plateau): As matter dilutes, the field activates its 4D volumetric mode (n=4). The equation yields a boost to 72.15 km/s/Mpc—aligning with SHOES and Late Universe data. The Future Limit: The expansion will not accelerate forever (Big Rip) but will stabilize at a geometric ceiling of 85.73 km/s/Mpc (sqrt(phi) * H_load), governed by 1D tension. The Predictions ("Kill Switches"): This is not a retro-fit; it is a predictive model. We provide five specific protocols for falsification, most notably regarding the nature of Dark Energy: Dark Energy Equation of State (w): We predict w is approximately -0.976, distinct from the standard Lambda-CDM value of -1. Current 2024 DESI constraints (w = -0.997 +/- 0.025) are closing in on this limit. Discrete Steps: We predict that high-precision redshift surveys will reveal that H(z) evolves through discrete plateaus, not smooth acceleration. Conclusion: The Hubble Tension is not a measurement error; it is the first detection of a geometric phase transition. The universe is not tearing itself apart; it is finding its geometric equilibrium. Keywords: Hubble Tension, E8 Geometry, Golden Ratio, Dark Energy, Cosmological Constant, Phase Transition.
