Abstract
Accelerating advancements in medical developments and information technologies have rapidly influenced changes in medical education and training. These changes have greatly influenced the daily practice of neurosurgery, medicine, surgery, and other medical services globally. Integration of values in every aspect of the development of teaching and learning in medicine is a fact that is fundamental and the basis of any learning throughout history. As modern technologies advance so fast, educators are striving so hard to upgrade education, learning, training, and curriculums, continuously keeping up with the developments but keeping intact the deeply rooted values in every system and pace of learning.Trainees have been and will always be the center of the education process just as patients will always be the center of the treatment process. The integration of these elements of Values-Based Medical Education (VsBME) in all aspects should always be maintained and highly observed. VsBME may offer an applicable concept to integrate ethics and values in the daily practice of a rapidly changing medical world.Medical education and training have five elements: (1) Vision, strategic plan, and policies; (2) Trainee; (3) Trainer; (4) The Curriculum; and (5) Logistics, facilities, and system. The code of ethics and patients’ rights has been presented in different forms; however, the contents are almost the same, which is the protection of the patient’s rights and safety and respecting the patient’s autonomy and dignity.
