Abstract

Telemedicine is a rapidly growing technology that facilitates the provision of healthcare services. It has been used since the eighteenth century with different types of technologies and services and has a significant impact on healthcare systems, healthcare providers, and patients. The role of telemedicine has significantly increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. Particularly, home quarantine which involved most countries worldwide has proved how telemedicine helps significantly. This chapter provides an overview of the role of telemedicine and the challenges and ethical concerns regarding telemedicine.
