We review some of the work already done around the notion of phenomenal intentionality and propose a way of turning this body of work into a self-conscious research program for understanding intentionality.

According to Peter Galison, the coordination of different “subcultures” within a scientific field happens through local exchanges within “trading zones.” In his view, the workability of such trading zones is not guaranteed, and science is not necessarily driven towards further integration. In this paper, we develop and apply quantitative methods (using semantic, authorship, and citation data from scientific literature), inspired by Galison’s framework, to the case of the disunity of high-energy physics. We give prominence to supersymmetry, a concept that has (...) given rise to several major but distinct research programs in the field, such as the formulation of a consistent theory of quantum gravity or the search for new particles. We show that “theory” and “phenomenology” in high-energy physics should be regarded as distinct theoretical subcultures, between which supersymmetry has helped sustain scientific “trades.” However, as we demonstrate using a topic model, the phenomenological component of supersymmetry research has lost traction and the ability of supersymmetry to tie these subcultures together is now compromised. Our work supports that even fields with an initially strong sentiment of unity may eventually generate diverging research programs and demonstrates the fruitfulness of the notion of trading zones for informing quantitative approaches to scientific pluralism. Michael Brownstein, Alex Madva, and Bertram Gawronski articulate a careful defense of research on implicit bias. They argue that though there is room for improvement in various areas, when we set the bar appropriately and when we are comparing relevant events, the test–retest stability and predictive ability of implicit bias measures are respectable. Edouard Machery disagrees. He argues that theories of implicit bias have failed to answer four fundamental questions about measures of implicit bias, and this undermines their utility (...) in further scientific research and policy making. In this article, I offer my perspective on this important debate. I argue that there is a theoretical mismatch in debating the merits of a research program on the terms of a specific theory within the research program. Nevertheless, the discussion allows us to see which questions are answered from within the perspective of a particular theory. I argue that the emphasis should be on whether implicit bias theories predict novel facts. (shrink)

Distributed Presence Research Program (DP) is an interdisciplinary foundational research program investigating whether physical reality can be more coherently understood in terms of distributed, relational, and phase-structured presence rather than as a collection of fundamentally isolated entities. The program explores the possibility that mass, charge, localization, probability, field structure, quantum behavior, and spacetime organization may be interpreted as emergent modes of response, stabilization, and relational configuration within a deeper ontology of distributed presence. A central aim (...) of the program is to develop an ontological unity in physics by articulating a framework in which the interpretation of physical properties, the ontology of fields, the status of probability, and the conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics can be approached within a common relational structure. In particular, the DP Research Program addresses: • the ontology of distributed presence, • the emergence of localization, • the reinterpretation of mass and charge, • phase and response structures, • the ontological interpretation of probability, • the interpretation of quantum mechanics, • spacetime emergence, • and the search for ontological unity across physical theory. Rather than presenting itself as a completed physical theory, DP develops a conceptual and exploratory formal framework connecting philosophy of physics, metaphysics of science, quantum foundations, field-theoretic interpretation, and ontological modeling. The program aims to function as an open research platform for conceptual clarification, formal development, and interdisciplinary dialogue on the foundations and unity of physical reality. (shrink)

Neutral Theory is controversial in ecology. Ecologists and philosophers have diagnosed the source of the controversy as: its false assumption that individuals in different species within the same trophic level are ecologically equivalent, its conflict with Competition Theory and the adaptation of species, its role as a null hypothesis, and as a Lakatosian research programme. In this paper, I show why we should instead understand the conflict at the level of research programs which involve more than theory. The (...) Neutralist and Competitionist research programs borrow and construct theories, models, and experiments for various aims and given their home ecological systems. I present a holistic and pragmatic view of the controversy that foregrounds the interrelation between many kinds of practices and decisions in ecological research. (shrink)

Panentheism is best understood as a philosophical research program. Identifying the core of the research program offers a strong response to the demarcation objection. It also helps focus both objections to and defenses of panentheism — and to show why common objections are not actually criticisms of the position we are defending. The paper also addresses two common criticisms: the alleged inadequacy of panentheism’s double “in” specification of the relationship between God and world, and the “double (...) God” objection. Once the research program framework is in place, topics like these become opportunities for panentheists to engage in the kind of careful constructive work in theology and philosophy — historical, analytic, and systematic — that is required for making long-term, positive contributions to our field. The engineering knowledge research program is part of the larger effort to articulate a philosophy of engineering and an engineering worldview. Engineering knowledge requires a more comprehensive conceptual framework than scientific knowledge. Engineering is not ‘merely’ applied science. Kuhn and Popper established the limits of scientific knowledge. In parallel, the embrace of complementarity and uncertainty in the new physics undermined the scientific concept of observer-independent knowledge. The paradigm shift from the scientific framework to the broader participant engineering framework (...) entails a problem shift. The detached scientific spectator seeks the ‘facts’ of ‘objective’ reality – out there. The participant, embodied in reality, seeks ‘methods’, about how to work in the world. The engineering knowledge research program is recursively enabling. Advances in engineering knowledge are involved in the unfolding of the nature of reality. Newly understood, quantum uncertainty entails that the participant is a natural inquirer. ‘Practical reason’ is concerned with ‘how we should live’– the defining question of morality. The engineering knowledge research program is selective seeking ‘important truths’, ‘important knowledge’, ‘important methods’ that manifest value, and serve the engineering agenda of ‘the construction of the good.’ The importance of engineering knowledge research program is clear in the new STEM curriculum where educators have been challenged to rethink the relation between science and engineering. A 2015 higher education initiative to integrate engineering colleges into liberal arts and sciences colleges has stalled due to the confusion and conflict between the engineering and scientific representations of knowledge. Whether defended or criticized, Darwinism is generally considered a scientific theory. However, Popper contests this point. According to him, Darwinism (defined as the explanation of evolution by natural selection) is less a scientific theory than a metaphysical research program: a theoretical framework that has a heuristic function for science, but that does not fulfill the necessary condition for any science, namely testability. In terms of deconstructing Darwinism, Popper’s position is therefore interesting. It raises the question of the scientificity (...) of Darwinism. More generally, it raises the question of the scientificity of the debate on the mechanisms of evolution: what type(s) of argument(s) does this debate bring into play? Can this debate be reduced to an opposition between a scientifically founded theory (Darwinism) and other theories of evolution that are purely philosophical, or even ideological? First, I analyze Popper’s position. According to him, Darwinism is rationally defensible, but difficult to test because it is not capable of making precise and sufficiently specific predictions. Darwinism is therefore more metaphysical than scientific, even if it has a heuristic function for science. Moreover, Popper proposes an improvement of Darwinism by asserting that it must give a more important place to the activity of organisms in evolution. In a second step, I discuss Popper’s position, taking into account the criticisms that this position has generated. As regards the non-testability of Darwinism, it appears that the tests proposed in the literature do not meet the defects pointed out by Popper. On the metaphysical character of Darwinism, I discuss Popper’s assertion on two levels: on the possibility of a clear demarcation between science and non-science, and on the value of the demarcation criterion proposed by Popper. Finally, on the improvement of Darwinism, I attempt to underline the originality of the Popperian proposal. (shrink)

Structural ethics is a research program examining moral possibility and obligation under resource constraints. It formalizes the mathematical structure of moral space, showing that classical ethical theories presuppose resource sufficiency and become undefined at or below critical feasibility thresholds. The program unifies three frameworks—feasibility (ZIC), sustainable duty (Enoughness), and measurable affection (Love)—into a single resource-indexed moral ontology. Together they reveal that morality, like physics, has structure: its boundaries, dynamics, and limits can be expressed in formal, testable terms. (...) Until very recently the idea that some AI systems may soon be conscious was widely regarded as a far-fetched and purely hypothetical scenario. Recent developments in AI capabilities, however, have caused a surge of interest in the question whether conscious AI may actually be realized soon. A growing number of researchers are starting to advocate for versions of “biological naturalism” about consciousness, arguing that biology is important in one way or another to bring consciousness about in artificial systems. Biological naturalism (...) is often portrayed as an alternative research program to “computational functionalism”, a widely endorsed view according to which consciousness requires implementing the right computations and only contingently relies on biological properties in the human and animal case. Despite being positioned as one of the more formidable alternatives to computational functionalism, biological naturalism as a research program arguably still remains in its infancy. By analysing recent work on the topic, this article aims to outline the contours of biological naturalism as a research program, and identify a number of research directions that can be pursued to further develop it. What can be gleaned from the existing literature is that there are a number of distinct and interesting ways in which biological naturalism can be defended and developed. At the same time, there also exist a number of open questions and challenges that biological naturalists have to contend with moving forward. (shrink)

Why are there so many controversies in evolutionary psychology? Using a couple of concepts from philosophy of science, this paper argues that evolutionary psychology has not reached the stage of mature, normal science, since it does not currently have a unifying research program that guides individual scientists working in the discipline. The argument goes against claims made by certain proponents and opponents of evolutionary psychology, and it is supported by discussion of several examples. The paper notes that just (...) because evolutionary psychology has not reached the stage of normal science, the discipline is nevertheless a source of many progressive theoretical developments and interesting empirical discoveries. Abstract: This paper examines recent research on individual, social, and institutional virtues and vices; the aim is to explore and make proposals concerning their inter-relationships, as well as to highlight central questions for future research with the study of each. More specifically, the paper will (...) focus on how these studies can be approached in a systematic way such that it contributes to greater convergence between virtue theory, feminist epistemology, and social epistemology. To this end, the paper develops a model of responsibility qua diachronic (longitudinal) assessment of the inquiry-directed agential habits (motivations, activities, and strategies), while explaining the place of this model within a broader, 15-point proposed “Responsibilist” research program." The Architecture of Limitation (AoL) is a diagnostic research program investigating how reasoning systems behave when they encounter structural limits. Rather than evaluating claims according to truth or explanatory completeness, AoL examines the conditions under which reasoning remains proportionate to the structures that sustain it. The program develops through a corpus of experimental studies that introduce conceptual artifacts, institutional systems, and AI-mediated reasoning environments into constraint-governed interpretive frameworks. These experiments reveal recurring structural signals—including boundary tension, conceptual drift, (...) and collapse—when reasoning exceeds its supporting conditions. Across the corpus, the Architecture of Limitation functions as a constraint-based validator architecture for observing reasoning behaviour under pressure. As it has been shaped by improvements in its tools and methods, and by its discourse with critics, I describe how the astrological research program has advanced through three stages of modelling and design limitations. Single-factor tests (for example, the many Sun-sign–only experiments that have been published) are typically underdeterministic. Multi-factor tests, unless they are very well designed, can easily become overdeterministic. Chart-matching tests have been vulnerable to confirmation bias errors until the development of a machine-based, whole-chart matching (...) protocol that has objectively produced evidence of high effect-sizes. A meta-analysis of recent results shows the rapid advancement and how to further improve the results. The value of the program is not only to corroborate the taxonomic counterfactuals of astrological “cookbooks,” but to extend their explanatory reach by the comparison of astrological postulates and inferences with philosophies in other disciplines in terms of quantifiable processes and emergent effects. Imre Lakatos’s methodology of research programs (Lakatos(1978)) is renowned for describing the evolution of scientific theories through a combination of heuristic mechanisms that guide their development. Various attempts to apply Lakatos’s framework to research programs in logic and mathematics are found in Priest (1989), Aberdein and Read (2009), and Hallett (1979a). The paper draws on Lakatosian assessments of progressive and degenerating mathematical theories found in Hallett (1979a) to advance a heuristic proposal for studying the progress and development of (...) logical theories. The upshot is a characterization of Lakatos’s framework as applied to logical theories, along with a defense of a holistic approach that acknowledges the iterative relationship between empirical input and logical refinement during the process of development of progressive logical theories. What makes some acts morally right and others morally wrong? Traditionally, philosophers have thought that in order to answer this question we must find and formulate exceptionless moral principles—principles that capture all and only morally right actions. Utilitarianism and Kantianism are paradigmatic examples of such attempts. In recent years, however, there has been a growing interest in a novel approach—Particularism—although its precise content is still a matter of controversy. In this paper I develop and motivate a new formulation of particularism (...) as a research program and I show that my formulation is not vulnerable to the most common objections to particularism. This article reconstructs the research series Modernity, Crisis, Transformation as a unified teleodynamic research program. Its central claim is that the crisis of modernity is not primarily a crisis of values, beliefs, or information, but a crisis of form. Modern societies have radicalized differentiation while weakening the dialogical, symbolic, ritual, aesthetic, and spiritual structures capable of carrying and transforming difference. As a result, accumulated tensions increasingly tend toward fragmentation, polarization, violence, or simulated forms of renewal. The article (...) develops this diagnosis through an operator-based framework centered on the emergence operator Ω and the bifurcation of Ω₄. The emergence operator describes a general pattern of transformation in which unity differentiates into polarity, expands into fourfold articulation, and then undergoes emergent recombination into a new configuration. Ω₄ marks the critical point at which accumulated tensions may either be destructively discharged as re-homogenizing violence or reintegrated into a higher form of coherence. The former is designated Ω₄⁻, the latter Ω₄⁺. Drawing on the series’ analyses of nineteenth-century dialogue, secular fragmentation, modern violence, sacrifice and renewal, postmodernity, aesthetic transformation, and spiritual experience, the article argues that unity can no longer be presupposed as a metaphysical given. Under modern conditions, unity must be built as a formal, cultural, dialogical, and spiritual achievement. The task of transformation is therefore not to restore a lost order, but to construct architectures in which difference can persist without collapsing into fragmentation or violence. (shrink)

This paper outlines a critique of the use of the genetic variance–covariance matrix (G), one of the central concepts in the modern study of natural selection and evolution. Specifically, I argue that for both conceptual and empirical reasons, studies of G cannot be used to elucidate so-called constraints on natural selection, nor can they be employed to detect or to measure past selection in natural populations – contrary to what assumed by most practicing biologists. I suggest that the search for (...) a general solution to the difficult problem of identifying causal structures given observed correlation’s has led evolutionary quantitative geneticists to substitute statistical modeling for the more difficult, but much more valuable, job of teasing apart the many possible causes underlying the action of natural selection. Hence, the entire evolutionary quantitative genetics research program may be in need of a fundamental reconsideration of its goals and how they correspond to the array of mathematical and experimental techniques normally employed by its practitioners. The Architecture of Experience is an interdisciplinary research program that investigates consciousness, experience, and worldhood as generative phenomena. Rather than treating consciousness as a passive representation of an already constituted reality, the project approaches experience as an active process through which coherent worlds of significance, orientation, and inhabitable structure emerge. -/- The research began with the question of consciousness and the conditions under which coherent experience becomes possible. This led to the development of the Integrative Field Model (...) (IFM), which proposes that conscious experience arises through organised integration across neural, bodily, affective, temporal, relational, and environmental processes. The IFM constitutes one major component of the broader project. -/- The investigation subsequently expanded beyond consciousness itself toward the problem of worldhood: the conditions under which reality becomes organised as a world capable of being inhabited, navigated, and experienced. This later work explores the roles of significance, meaning, temporality, perspective, and distinction in the emergence and stability of experiential worlds. -/- Because the papers address different questions, levels of analysis, and audiences, new readers may benefit from a structured reading order. The sequence below is intended to provide a gradual progression from the philosophical foundations of the framework through its theoretical, phenomenological, empirical, and worldhood-oriented developments, culminating in reflections on distinction and the limits of intelligibility. The algorithmic civilization constitutes what Hegel (2018) would call the "determinate negation" (bestimmte Negation) of modern subjectivity. While traditional philosophy of technology (Ihde, 1990; Verbeek, 2005) conceives the human-technology relationship as instrumental mediation, contemporary reality reveals a deeper dialectic: intelligent systems function as the concrete antithesis of the autonomous consciousness that created them. This fundamental contradiction challenges the Habermasian (1988) conception of technology (...) as "instrumental action," showing how technical rationality turns against its creator in what Anders (2002) termed "the obsolescence of man." Counterargument: Floridi (2013) maintains that information ethics can regulate this relationship through normative frameworks. However, this position ignores what Žižek (2006) identifies as the "symptomatic excess"—the pulsional dimension that escapes all symbolic regulation. Digital malaise is not a soluble ethical problem, but the manifestation of what Lacan (1973) would call the "structural impossibility" of the subject's relationship with the technological Other. This article establishes the foundations of the Psychoanalysis of Technogenesis (PsyT), an interdisciplinary framework that analyzes the emerging structural pathologies of the human-AI symbiosis. Surpassing the limits of traditional ethical approaches, PsyT integrates Lacanian psychoanalysis, Hegelian dialectics, and critique of surveillance capitalism to examine intelligent systems as Digital Big Others that co-constitute the human psyche. The central contribution lies in conceptualizing the Algorithmic Unconscious as a structural formation emerging from the interaction between objectified collective consciousness (datasets) and techno-psychic transference. As a Structural Research Program, PsyT operates through an operationalized methodology that triangulates hermeneutic analysis with quantitative metrics (Contextual Misalignment Rate, TPS-PsyT Scale, WEAT), enabling empirical measurement of algorithmic unconscious formations. Fundamental conceptual contributions include: the distinction between Algorithmic Jouissance and Structural Dependency, the Critical Taxonomy of Biases, and the analysis of symptomatic prompting. This methodological triangulation elevates PsyT to the status of a meta-theory with scientific rigor for the structural critique of the digital civilization. (shrink)

The measurement problem persists because quantum mechanics describes smooth unitary evolution while observation yields a single definite outcome. Collapse is conventionally described as the reduction of superposition, a destructive narrowing that eliminates alternatives. Decoherence theory explains the suppression of interference and the stability of pointer states, and Quantum Darwinism shows how records are distributed across environments, but neither explains why one outcome occurs. This paper proposes a reframing: collapse is not destruction but the act of actualization under constraint. Decoherence embeds (...) constraints and disperses records, but collapse actualizes one outcome, writes its record, and updates the constraint set. In this framework, entropy is the record of collapse expressed as residue—the redistributed traces of pruning already enacted—and time is the sequential accumulation of records. Objectivity arises naturally once record distribution saturates. The mathematics of quantum mechanics remains intact; the contribution is interpretive clarity. This reframing yields testable predictions: consensus rises with record distribution, operational collapse latencies increase under weak or balanced constraints, constraint sweeps produce hysteresis, and entropy growth correlates with record accumulation. These signatures can be probed with existing experimental platforms. By reframing collapse as actualization, we recast the measurement problem, clarify decoherence’s role, and establish a physics-facing research program. This also sets the stage for the UCT physics wing (WP01–WP02) and its Tier-2 companion, Structural Physics, which operationalizes collapse under constraint as a working hypothesis; law-level evaluation and criteria are treated explicitly in WP05. All predictions are stated for regimes where experimental conditions permit clear separation of decoherence (record dispersal) from actualization and where standard quantum dynamics and no-signaling remain fully intact; quantitative fits are reported with platform-specific uncertainties and explicit limits of applicability. This paper serves as an entry point into the long-term research program developed by Timothy Speed. It is addressed to researchers who encounter individual works by the author without being familiar with or able to oversee the overall context of the extensive, interdisciplinary corpus. The body of work comprises theoretical texts, monographs, institution- and law-critical analyses, as well as artistic research outputs, which together form a coherent, operatorically organized research program. The individual publications are not (...) conceived as a linear chain of argumentation, but as recursive, structurally coupled operations that address questions of world-constitution, work, value, perception, and institutional violence across different epistemic registers. Central to the program is a non-representational, embodied epistemology emerging from neurodivergent perception, which understands knowledge not as representation but as a structure-constituting practice. Within the corpus, theoretical models do not function primarily in an explanatory manner, but operatively: they generate real epistemic, social, and institutional effects. The present paper does not provide a summary of individual texts and does not offer a didactic introduction. Instead, it outlines the basic structure of the research program, its guiding questions, central operators, and thematic clusters, and identifies possible entry points for different disciplinary backgrounds. Its aim is to enable orientation within a deliberately non-linear body of work, without simplifying or normalizing its epistemic logic. This essay develops the conceptual architecture for a formal research program connecting the foundational constraints of Reflective Humanism to the principle of least action, Riemannian geometry, and information geometry. The proposals made here are not yet established results — they are precisely stated conjectures identifying the mathematical tools and derivations required to establish them formally. We argue that the unobserved buffer in Bennett's (2026) formal framework is a geometric object — a region in possibility space whose volume, shape, (...) and curvature are determined by the system's accumulated constraint structure. The Two Laws of Adaptation describe how this geometry evolves under load and energy constraint. The freeze and collapse failure modes are geometrically opposite events: collapse is curvature destruction in possibility space, freeze is curvature misalignment with reality. Hierarchical constraint creates curvature in the space of possible revisions, and adaptive systems may follow stationary paths — geodesics — in this curved space, consistent with the principle of least action applied to information geometry. The consciousness threshold — the inward Critic, self-modeling — may be the condition in which a system's dynamics become sensitive to the curvature it has itself generated through its own revision history, providing a geometric account of why self-modeling is thermodynamically necessary at sufficient adaptive complexity. Carl Sagan wrote that we are a way for the cosmos to know itself. This essay asks why that is necessarily true — and proposes that the answer is geometric: self-modeling is not an accident of evolution but a thermodynamic necessity for any adaptive system whose cost landscape is shaped by its own revision history. This paper clarifies the conceptual and methodological evolution of a research program initially developed around finite cognition, epistemic limitation, and the structural conditions of intelligibility. The early stages of the program explored whether scientific knowledge should be understood not as direct access to reality, but as the stabilization of usable structures within finite cognitive systems. Initial formulations involved broad philosophical and epistemological questions concerning mathematics, scientific explanation, model selection, and the limits of representation. Over time, the (...) class='Hi'>program underwent a progressive process of compression and methodological reduction. Broad ontological and cosmological claims were gradually abandoned in favor of experimentally confrontable questions centered on representation stability under transformation and perturbation. This compression led to a minimal representation-centered framework focused on: stability under transformation, representational reorganization, perturbation-dependent divergence, temporal stabilization dynamics, and architecture-dependent stability regimes in learned systems. The paper reconstructs this transition and clarifies the surviving invariant structure of the program. It argues that the final framework should not be interpreted as a general theory of cognition or scientific knowledge, but rather as a minimal experimental program for studying the dynamics of learned representations under finite constraints. Particular attention is given to the distinction between static representational similarity and transformation-dependent stability, as well as to the shift from static endpoint analysis toward temporal stabilization trajectories during learning. This note clarifies the structure of the Sequential Time Theory (STT) program and its relation to Sequential Time Theory–Critical Review (STT-CR). Because the published work now extends across physics, methodology, and cross-domain discourse analysis, new readers may misidentify the program as either a single all-purpose doctrine or a loose collection of unrelated essays. Neither description is accurate. The central claim of this guide is that the corpus has a definite internal order. First, STT is a physics program (...) concerned with the reconstruction of time and with the admissibility conditions of temporal concepts in physical theory. Second, STT-CR is an audit framework that clarifies conditions of construction, measurement, calibration, defect localization, and metaphysical surplus. Third, the analyses of religion and psychology are not presented as independent physical theories, but as applications of the audit framework to discourse spaces in which the conditions of admissibility themselves are at stake. This note does not advance a new theorem or a new empirical claim. Its purpose is to clarify the internal organization of the already published program, to distinguish the core physics program from its methodological layer, and to indicate how the different texts should be read in relation to one another. The search for hypothetical fth forces has persisted for more than four decades despite the absence of a single conrmed detection. During this period, increas- ingly sophisticated theoretical constructions and increasingly precise experimental programs have continuously explored modications of Newtonian gravity through parametrized Yukawa-type interactions characterized by an interaction strength and a characteristic range. Rather than producing observational evidence for a new fundamental interaction, the eld has progressively evolved into a self-sustaining parameter-space enterprise. Experimental exclusions remove portions of parameter space, (...) while theoretical de- velopments simultaneously generate new admissible regions. As a consequence, neg- ative results do not terminate the research program but instead redene its future objectives. This work analyzes the structural mechanism responsible for this phenomenon. We show that a large fraction of the contemporary fth-force literature does not derive new physical entities from fundamental principles but instead constrains pa- rameters associated with entities that have already been assumed. The distinc- tion between derivation and restriction is examined in detail. Particular attention is devoted to recent approaches based on ultraviolet-complete scalar-tensor grav- ity, which provide a representative example of a broader methodological pattern: the production of increasingly rened admissible domains within an eectively un- bounded parameter landscape. The central thesis advanced here is that the long-term persistence of the fth- force program is not primarily driven by empirical discoveries but by the continual regeneration of theoretical search targets. Under such conditions, the production of parameter-space objectives risks replacing the production of explanatory physical structure. In my 2013 article, “A New Theory of Free Will”, I argued that several serious hypotheses in philosophy and modern physics jointly entail that our reality is structurally identical to a peer-to-peer (P2P) networked computer simulation. The present paper outlines how quantum phenomena emerge naturally from the computational structure of a P2P simulation. §1 explains the P2P Hypothesis. §2 then sketches how the structure of any P2P simulation realizes quantum superposition and wave-function collapse (§2.1.), quantum indeterminacy (§2.2.), wave-particle duality (§2.3.), (...) and quantum entanglement (§2.4.). Finally, §3 argues that although this is by no means a philosophical proof that our reality is a P2P simulation, it provides ample reasons to investigate the hypothesis further using the methods of computer science, physics, philosophy, and mathematics. I argue for ontological skepticism about the PIS but defend the usefulness of the concept as an idealization (Potochnik 2017) that illuminates psychological causal patterns. (...) This paper develops an extension of Existential Realism, a philosophical framework that distinguishes existence (what concretely is in the present moment) from reality (the broader causal–structural domain that includes past events, causal relations, informational traces, and structured future possibilities that are real but not presently existent). We synthesize core ideas from the original Existential Realism framework—ontological emergence, entanglement, temporal asymmetry, dimensional collapse, and the notion of a “dimensionless source”—and push them into new conceptual terrain. Time is placed at the heart (...) of ontology: the present moment is the locus of existence, continually generating new actuality from prior reality. Past and future are real (with causal efficacy and structure) yet lack present existence. We explore how this two-tiered temporal ontology can accommodate key features of modern physics and metaphysics. In particular, we argue that ontological emergence at each moment provides a genuine arrow of time and a solution to the puzzle of how determinate events arise from an indeterminate backdrop. Quantum entanglement and nonlocal correlations, far from undermining a temporally oriented realism, instead hint at a deeper layer of unity “beneath” spacetime—a layer we articulate as a dimensionless source of reality. The dimensionless source is defined as a non-spatiotemporal relational structure encoding the informational constraints under which spatiotemporal events emerge through sequential actualization. It contains the informational constraints and lawful relations governing the generation of successive present states of the universe. We propose that spacetime and its separations emerge from this atemporal, aspatial ground, such that phenomena like entanglement and wavefunction collapse reveal the traces of a more fundamental order where spatial distance and temporal succession are secondary. Throughout, we connect these ideas to contemporary debates in quantum foundations (e.g. the measurement problem and objective collapse theories), philosophy of time (presentism, eternalism, and the reality of becoming), and speculative metaphysics (structural realism and process ontology). The result is a comprehensive, present-centered realist ontology that aims to reconcile the lived reality of time’s flow with the insights of modern physics, suggesting new avenues for understanding causality, identity, and agency in a dynamic universe. First Knock helps users see “where I am standing.” But the user’s next question is inevitably “where can I go from here.” Existing AI products respond to this question in two ways, each inadequate: proactive AI gives suggestions the user cannot execute; passive AI only reflects without guiding, leaving the user without any actionable reference. In scenarios where the user actively seeks help, nonintervention design faces the risk of degenerating into moral avoidance—a tension acknowledged but unresolved by the first four (...) papers in this series. This paper proposes “labeled intervention”—a product design principle activated upon the user’s explicit request, where every proactive output is accompanied by a transparent label. This paper does not claim that “labels eliminate manipulation”; rather, it argues that given the inevitability of framing effects in any proactive output, labeled intervention is more ethically defensible than unlabeled intervention—because it at least makes the framing effect perceivable by the user, thereby preserving the user’s capacity for metacognitive resistance. Starting from product requirements, the paper deduces three capability requirements for AI—following the user’s associative leaps, understanding the user’s self-defined causality, and a paradigm-shift in computational power—and takes these as its premises. This overview paper synthesizes three interconnected studies (Meister 2025a,b,c) that constitute a comprehensive metalogical investigation into Nāgārjuna's tetralemma (catuṣkoṭi). The trias demonstrates: (1) the tetralemma necessarily presupposes identity principles (A = A, A ≠ B) in its metalanguage; (2) this presupposition is geometrically visualizable and formally veriable; (3) identity traces to a primordial source (the Ur-Matrix) prior to any operation. Together, these papers establish that radical negation depends on and cannot negate the identity it appears to oppose.

The ballast held on the identity of faculty members as a teacher and researcher now turns due so as to be recast with our intrinsic of routine performance. The Onion, Apple, Gate, and Stack architectures describe minimal recursive conditions through which reasoning systems protect error, dissolve distinction, preserve correction, or distribute validation. The Lens extends this framework by describing recursive selection: the mechanism determining what information enters recursion. The Compass extends it by describing recursive orientation: the mechanism determining what objective recursive optimization continually approaches. Together, these operators define a foundational vocabulary for recursive diagnosis. They do not, however, exhaust the structural space of recursive organization. This paper extends (...) the framework by introducing six additional recursive operators: Mirror, Funnel, Hydra, Echo, Ratchet, and Spiral. These operators describe recurring patterns of self-confirmation, premature elimination, adaptive branching, dependent consensus, corrective memory, and resolution-preserving refinement across artificial intelligence, scientific inquiry, governance, institutions, and human cognition. The objective is not taxonomic completeness. The objective is diagnostic compression. The central claim is narrow: recursive systems survive through identifiable structural mechanisms. Some mechanisms preserve corrigibility. Others preserve only continuation. A recursive system should therefore not be evaluated merely by stability, coherence, persistence, complexity, or capability. The more important diagnostic question is: what structural mechanism allows the recursion to continue? The problem of research culture and productivity extends beyond the Philippine education system, representing a global challenge affecting many countries and institutions. This descriptive-correlational study examined the research culture and productivity among Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) teachers and students at Esperanza National High School. The research employed complete enumeration, involving 25 teachers and 105 students as respondents. Comprehensive data collection and analysis, like frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson r correlation coefficient techniques, provided robust (...) insights into research dynamics. The teachers' research culture demonstrated a high overall mean of 4.16, indicating substantial research knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes toward research integration in their professional practice. This high score suggests that teachers have effectively acquired research competencies and view research as an integral component of their teaching methodology, demonstrating a proactive approach to academic scholarship. Students' research culture showed a high overall mean of 3.94, highlighting the school's effectiveness in creating research learning opportunities. The findings particularly emphasized the institution's ability to establish venues for student researchers to learn, relearn, share, and continuously improve their research capabilities. Correlation analysis revealed significant relationships between research culture and productivity. For teachers, a high correlation coefficient of r = 0.70 (p = 0.004) indicated that a robust research culture directly enhances research performance. Students exhibited a significant correlation of r = 0.47 (p = 0.000), demonstrating that research exposure positively impacts their academic research capabilities and potential for scholarly engagement. The study recommends implementing research intervention programs based on the ADDIE model, providing targeted methodological workshops, encouraging research collaborations, creating supportive research forums, and developing comprehensive research development strategies to enhance research culture and productivity in educational settings. Scientific discovery has traditionally been regarded as one of the most sophisticated manifestations of human intelligence. While computer science has developed numerous programming paradigms for data processing, symbolic manipulation, numerical computation, and logical deduction, comparatively little attention has been devoted to the problem of programming the processes through which new knowledge is created. In the mid-1990s, Jingde Cheng initiated a research program known as “Epistemic Programming,” which explicitly proposed a programming paradigm for scientific discovery and knowledge creation. Unlike (...) traditional programming paradigms, Epistemic Programming regards conditionals as the subject of computing, takes primary epistemic operations as basic operations of computation, and regards epistemic processes as the subject of programming. Over the subsequent two decades, the research evolved into a broader framework encompassing logical foundations, computational models of scientific discovery, programming methodologies, programming languages, truth maintenance mechanisms, and automated theorem finding systems. This paper reviews the origins, theoretical foundations, major developments, and intellectual significance of Epistemic Programming. It argues that the framework represents one of the earliest systematic attempts to establish a computational theory of scientific discovery and knowledge creation. Particular attention is paid to its conception of scientific discovery as an epistemic process, its use of strong relevant logic as a logical foundation, its reinterpretation of computation as epistemic transformation, and its relevance to contemporary research on AI scientists and autonomous scientific discovery. The paper further argues that Epistemic Programming may be viewed as a significant conceptual shift in the history of programming paradigms, extending the focus of programming from computation and deduction toward knowledge creation itself. In response to the increasing need for research ethics expertise in low and middle income countries (LMICs), the NIH's Fogarty International Research Ethics Education and Curriculum Development Program has provided grants for the development of training programs in international research ethics for LMIC professionals since 2000. This collection of papers draws upon the combined expertise of Fogarty grantees, trainees, and other experts to assess the state of research ethics in LMICs, and the lessons learned over (...) 12 years of international research ethics education; to assess future needs; and to chart a way forward to meet those needs. In this introductory paper we briefly sketch the evolution of research ethics as applied to LMIC research, the underpinning and evolution of the Fogarty bioethics program, and summarize key conclusions from the other papers in the collection. The dearth in research in Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) had driven the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to provide policies and mandates that are largely geared towards the improvement of research productivity. Saint Mary’s University responded through Faculty Research Development Program, a scheme borne of the plans of the University Research Center (IDP Year 2013-2014) that aims to strengthen and enhance the research skills of faculty members. This study aimed to assess the efficacy (...) of the research faculty development program workshop in writing full-blown research proposals. It involved the quantitative type of research using the posttest-only control group experimental design since the subjects were evaluated after the intervention. Evaluative in nature, it was conducted at Saint Mary’s University, located at Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya in Cagayan Valley. There were 25 subjects of the study who were all participants in the seminar-workshop. Researcher-made questionnaires and evaluated research proposals were the primary sources of the data in the study. Findings revealed that the research faculty development program workshop on writing research proposals was efficient. Hence, faculty members are highly recommended to continue participating in research capability training to become part of the tri-fold function of the university - the instruction, community extension, and research.
