This master's thesis explores the role of "critical anthropomorphism" within Martin Gorke's framework of holistic environmental ethics. The central question concerns how a shift in perspective can be achieved—one that moves beyond anthropocentric and pathocentric approaches to grant moral considerability to all of nature, including non-living entities. Engaging with Gorke’s concept of nature’s intrinsic value, Alexander Geis develops both a theoretical foundation and a practical articulation of this ethical shift. Critical anthropomorphism is presented as a methodological tool that uses analogy (...) and self-reflection to foster a reflective, empathetic orientation toward the natural world.
