This essay asks a deliberately narrow question inside the coherent-existence framework: what is light to the jays? Modeling a legible trace as a conserved intensity and a turning phase, the piece observes that light already divides itself the same way, into a conserved magnitude and a freely turning phase, and that the absolute phase of a single field is unobservable while the relative phase between two fields is physical and does the work of interference. From this resemblance it develops two (...) readings, held apart rather than resolved: light as the carrier of legible traces between perspectives, and light as an instance of the jays themselves. The first stays within established optics and information theory; the second inherits the commitments and unsolved problems of panpsychist and quantum theories of mind, including the decoherence objection. Throughout, the register seam is kept in view: the mathematics shared with optics is a modeling choice, not an empirical claim that photons carry or constitute consciousness. What did we lose when comparison became a scoreboard? This essay recovers the oldest sense of the word — the Greek συγκρίνω, "to judge together" — and uses it to hold three terms in one gaze: objective, subjective, and relative. Tracing the words to their Latin roots (obiectum, the thrown-against; subiectum, the thrown-under; referre, the carrying-back), the essay follows the documented scholastic inversion by which "objective" and "subjective" traded meanings on the road through Kant, and argues that the wall between (...) them was always a hinge. Witnesses are called from three registers: physics (the observer effect honestly stated, Rovelli's relational quantum mechanics, color confinement, and the finding that roughly ninety-nine percent of the proton's mass is binding rather than intrinsic substance), dialogical philosophy (Buber's insistence that the I differs between I–It and I–Thou), and Pauline theology (the mirror texts of 1 Corinthians 13:12 and 2 Corinthians 3:18, where beholding becomes a mechanism of transformation). The triad is then tried on the disciplines themselves — science as the apprenticeship to the thrown-against, philosophy as the discipline of the thrown-under, mathematics as relation distilled — before the essay closes on the mirror effect of mindful living: the empirically fenced, person-to-person contagion of calm, and comparison recovered as two lives judged together. Written within the author's coherent-existence (jays) framework, with the register seam between established science and interpretive framework kept visible throughout, the piece marks the On ——ing series' turn toward the philosophy of psychology. Ao observarmos as comuns reações de rejeição do termo “cisgeneridade”, sua designação como não-científico, percebemos a manutenção de um pacto narcísico. Ao nos apresentar ao pacto da branquitude, Cida Bento percebe como a branquitude se protege, por vias institucionais, de sua fragilidade. Percebemos, em espaços acadêmicos, de onde emergem as categorias diagnósticas sobre os corpos “Outros” que a cisgeneridade institucionalizada se vale (...) de suas posições de poder para garantir a hegemonia de seu silêncio descritivo, de sua deslocalização. Há, então, na estrutura do pacto da branquitude, um pacto da cisgeneridade que se conforma à heteronormatividade, à corponormatividade. Seria essa a cisgeneridade em negação, que se ofende ao ser nomeada, que reage à sua própria designação tal como se reagiria a uma ofensa. Essa é nossa tese. (shrink)

This study investigated the predictive value of students' practical Biology mock examination scores on their theory performance in Nnewi Education Zone. Five research questions and five null hypotheses, tested at the 0.05 level of significance, guided the research. A correlational survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consisted of 13604 (public: 1918 males and 2049 females; private: 4332 males and 4765 females) Senior Secondary Sschool three (SS 3) students in the public and private secondary schools in Nnewi (...) Education Zone, from which a sample of 727 (390 males and 337 females) SS 3 students was drawn using a multistage sampling procedure. The performance scores of students in the Biology practical and theory mock examination for the 2024/2025 academic session, from the selected schools, were used to collect data for the study. There was no need for instrument validation and reliability tests, since the performance scores were obtained from already existing standardized examination questions. Data were retrieved from the academic records of selected schools after due permission had been sought and obtained from the school authorities. The collected data were analyzed using simple linear and ANOVA regression analyses. The study found that practical mock Biology examination scores are not significant predictors of students’ theory performance. The findings of the study also showed that while gender was not a significant moderator of this predictive relationship, school type was. Based on the findings, it was recommended that while students should adopt study habits that integrate the practical and theoretical aspects in their learning of Biology, Biology teachers should deploy teaching methods in the classroom to facilitate this integration. The state system defined by the Treaty of Westphalian, long regarded as the basic unit of the international system, is currently engaged in a crisis of relevance without precedent in the four centuries since the 1648 Peace of Westphalia. The exponential ascendancy of digital technology; encompassing artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, big data analytics, and the sovereign-like reach of transnational technology corporations, is progressively eroding the state's monopoly over the foundational attributes of statehood: territory, identity, currency, security, and the legitimate (...) use of force. This paper interrogates the extent to which the state retains its pre-eminence as the quintessential actor in global politics in the face of these disruptive forces. Drawing on liberal institutionalist and neorealist theoretical frameworks, and situating the analysis within the empirical realities of the twenty-first century international system, the paper argues that the state, while still structurally central, is undergoing a profound ontological transformation. Its future primacy is not guaranteed but is contingent upon its capacity for radical institutional reinvention, what the paper terms 'digital sovereignisation'. The paper concludes with a forward-looking agenda for statecraft in the age of algorithmic power. (shrink)

[This is a pre-publication version of a thesis to be published in the near future] -/- This thesis investigates the relationship between natural languages and those of formal logic. It focusses on mismatches, which primarily concern semantic differences between logical constants in formal systems and their designated counterparts in natural language. These mismatches are directly relevant to the goals of philosophical logic, which primarily aims to provide tools for assessing reasoning, the latter which is most often carried out in the (...) vernacular. Furthermore, they are important to various debates in the philosophy of language and the philosophy of logic, not to mention to linguistics and neighbouring fields. Despite this relevance, mismatches themselves are rarely discussed in the literature. This thesis aims to fill this lacuna. Chapter 1 establishes the methodological background, which is that of so-called ‘connective analysis’. It also introduces the main ideas behind use theories of meaning, the central approach to linguistic meaning discussed in this book. Chapter 2 further delves into the topic of meaning by discussing inferentialism. It finds its main variations wanting, and develops a novel version that adopts a middle ground position, thereby combining the advantages of its predecessors. Chapter 3 defends this version against objections from the principle of compositionality. It also discusses the subject matter of formal semantics, thereby clarifying the relationship between use theories and the former. Chapter 4 deals with the mismatches themselves, surveying their different forms as discussed since modern logic’s inception. It argues that there are no ‘qualitative’ mismatches between the two types of languages, and that natural language contains a relation of logical consequence. This vindicates a conception of logic in which the prior analyses of the vernacular under use-theoretic lights is methodologically central. This approach is then applied starting in Chapter 5, which studies the uses of modal expressions and quantifiers in natural language, their interactions in particular. This will lead to the introduction of the so-called ‘quantified argument calculus’ (‘Quarc’), a logic of quantification arguably closer to natural language than the predicate calculus. Afterwards, Chapter 6 introduces two-valued modal extensions of Quarc, and proves soundness and completeness theorems for a family of associated Gentzen-style natural deduction systems. Chapter 7 applies one of these systems to a specific type of categorical reasoning, and discusses an associated polygon of opposition. Finally, Chapter 8 considers three-valued modal extensions of Quarc, motivated by phenomena related to presupposition-failure. This will lead to the introduction of a tableaux system, whose soundness and completeness will also be proven. Thus, overall, this thesis vindicates the use of natural language as tool to study logic, and of logic as a tool to study natural language. (shrink)

This article reconsiders one of the most frequently moralized episodes in Lu Yao's Ordinary World: Hao Hongmei's theft of handkerchiefs at the end of high school and Sun Shaoping's intervention on her behalf. Existing readings often treat the incident as evidence of Hao's vanity, compromised character, or eventual moral education. Such interpretations remain too close to the evaluative grammar supplied by the novel itself. Through close reading informed by affect theory, the anthropology of the gift, class analysis, and rhetorical narrative (...) ethics, this article argues that the episode organizes a transfer of moral value. Hao's shame originates in a social relation. Graduation gifts impose a debt of reciprocity on a student whose poverty has to remain concealed if she is to preserve ordinary membership in the class. Once she is caught, however, the narrative reallocates agency and interpretive authority. Sun explains her motives, pays for the handkerchiefs, controls the circulation of knowledge, and converts the objects from evidence of theft into gifts that can safely re-enter social exchange. Witnesses then ratify his kindness, while Hao is reduced largely to fear, tears, and gratitude. Her crisis therefore becomes the condition under which Sun's goodness can appear as exceptional, magnanimous, and independent of romantic self-interest. I call this process borrowed shame: the narrative conversion of one character's socially produced humiliation into another character's ethical credit. The article further shows that this structure reappears in Hao's later widowhood and remarriage, where her vulnerability again tests and enlarges male moral character. A counterfocal reading does not deny Sun's compassion. It distinguishes the ethical merit of his action within the story from the unequal distribution of voice, action, and value through which the novel makes that merit legible. -/- . (shrink)

This paper asks whether economic value can be carried as a base dimension in the sense of the International System's dimensional framework, and answers with a qualified yes, in three steps. First, anchoring is metrology, not reduction. A monetary unit fixed to a dated economic reference acquires a stable magnitude in the way the 2019 redefinition of the SI fixed units by freezing constants, without the value dimension V collapsing into mass, time, or energy; that collapse is the trap that (...) consumed the gold standard and the labor theory of value. Second, the license for the dimension is a symmetry that economics already names. Invariance of real behavior under rescaling of the monetary unit is the homogeneity postulate, the absence of money illusion, so V is exactly as valid as monetary neutrality: sound in the long run, violated at short horizons. Third, the violation is quantifiable. A dimensionless group N, the product of the median repricing interval and the unit decay rate λ, marks the regime boundary; it is the reciprocal of a Deborah number for the monetary unit. When N ≪ 1 the unit decays negligibly within one price-adjustment cycle and money behaves as a proper dimension; as N approaches unity at the stickiest systemically important margin, the common-factor structure of nominal prices disintegrates. Iran's 2024 to 2026 currency episode is developed as a breakdown observatory rather than a validation case: folk rescaling into tomans, substitution toward dollar and gold quotation, and the statutory deletion of four zeros are read as changes of dimensional basis that restore small N. The same breakdown and the same repairs recur across two millennia of episodes, from the Roman debasements to Brazil's Plano Real, and the anchored unit constructed here has two historical implementations under crisis conditions, Hungary's adópengő and Brazil's URV. Worked examples, a regime diagram, and replies to the principal objections are included so that the argument is self-contained for readers arriving from either metrology or economics. A dimension with a stated validity domain is scientifically respectable; continuum mechanics survives the Knudsen limit. (shrink)

Anti-Semantics II addresses a recurrent analytical problem in theories of meaning and interpretation: distinct positions are frequently compressed into a single event described as reading, interpretation, understanding, or explanation. A reaction may be treated as already meaningful, a trace as containing its own interpretation, local followability as proof, an explanation as identical with its object, or the absence of proof as permission for unrestricted interpretation. As a result, it becomes difficult to determine where disagreement, displacement, supplementation, substitution, or institutional fixation (...) has occurred. -/- The work resolves this analytical problem by separating the positions involved between a locally followable difference and its treatment as meaningful, interpretable, explainable, understandable, acceptable, or preservable. It distinguishes response from trace, trace from readability, readability from locally established reading, established reading from proof, reading from interpretation, interpretation from explanatory substitution, and explanation from the configuration explained. -/- This route is not presented as a causal chain, temporal sequence, psychological process, or developmental theory of meaning. It is a structured series of non-identities. An apparently direct route from trace to meaning, reading to explanation, machine output to understanding, or model to reality either tacitly retains the omitted analytical positions or obtains its apparent immediacy by compressing or conflating them. -/- The central position is threefold: a locally followable configuration is not yet meaning; its local fixation does not prove its own validity; and its lack of self-proving validity does not make it arbitrary. In response to Futrell & Mahowald’s (2025) paper on the role of Large Language Models (LLMs) in linguistics, Sripada et al. (2026) strikingly argue that LLMs “illuminate” the mechanisms underlying what Chomsky calls the creative aspect of language use (CALU). Such illumination promises, they argue, to bring this once-intractable problem under the heel of scientific inquiry by advancing our understanding of the mechanisms by which individuals select situation-appropriate expressions from an unbounded class of expressions. Sripada et al. draw attention to (...) an important, foundational issue in generative linguistics, but their paper mischaracterizes CALU. The mischaracterization turns principally on the notion of stimulus-independence and how this relates to the capacity for unbounded linguistic production. These comments seek to correct this mischaracterization by showing that the problem of CALU is deeper and more distinctive than they let on. Likewise, misunderstandings of Chomsky’s invocation of CALU are clarified. (shrink)

Metaphysics has frequently been challenged from two directions: by critiques of speculative system-building and by deflationary approaches that translate metaphysical questions into questions about language, concepts, and their conditions of application. Although conceptual clarification is indispensable, it does not exhaust the task of metaphysics. Reality may be disclosed through the clarification of concepts, but disclosure is not yet encounter. -/- This paper develops a reading of Wittgenstein according to which the limits of language open onto a phenomenological turn toward lived (...) experience. In the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, Wittgenstein distinguishes between what can be said propositionally and what can only be shown. His concluding appeal to silence is therefore interpreted not merely as the prohibition of further philosophical speech, but as a transition from representation to encounter: once linguistic confusion has been removed, reality remains to be lived, experienced, and undergone. This interpretation is extended through the later Wittgenstein’s emphasis on language-games, practices, and forms of life, which do not reduce reality to language but situate meaning within embodied and shared existence. Wittgenstein’s philosophical and biographical movement toward solitude, teaching, manual work, and practical life is read as expressing a persistent desire to move beyond abstract construction toward direct engagement with reality. The paper argues that this phenomenological reading offers a recovery of metaphysics beyond both speculative abstraction and linguistic deflation. Metaphysics becomes neither the construction of theories about a hidden world nor merely the clarification of vocabulary, but an encounter with a reality that can be shown through language without being exhausted by it. The mystery of reality is therefore not the failure of understanding but the ground from which understanding begins. (shrink)

This paper takes up a question that Jack Reynolds describes and leaves open: whether a pragmatism can retain transcendental reasoning, honor both the coping pragmatism prizes and the disruption Deleuze holds thought requires, and stay answerable to the sciences without collapsing into naturalism. Reynolds finds that none of the frameworks he examines escapes the recognitional image of thought. This paper offers a fourth attempt from a different starting point. It begins from a revision to the metaphysics of consciousness, continuous dual-aspect (...) panexperiential monism, and derives from it an epistemological position, fixed-point constraint pragmatism, that grounds the conditions of inquiry neither in fixed categories nor in the necessities of an existing community, but in what a system of thought cannot absorb without disruption from practices external to it. Coherence, utility, and morality jointly fix which transformations a practice can undergo while remaining stable, with morality requiring that another practice's claim be left standing as pressure rather than converted into content already possessed. Whether this breaks the recognitional operation, or merely equips recognition to register its own limits, is the question on which this framework asks to be judged. (shrink)

The classical 0-1 knapsack problem is among the simplest integer programs to state and among the most instructive problems for understanding why algorithm selection must follow instance structure. An input contains items with positive integer weights and profits, and the task is to choose a maximum-profit subset whose total weight does not exceed a capacity. The problem is weakly NP-hard, yet many large instances are solved quickly because exact algorithms exploit moderate numeric parameters, strong linear relaxations, dominance relations, or a (...) small set of uncertain variables near the fractional break item. This review develops a theory-guided account of the principal fast solution methods for the classical problem. It proves the correctness and complexity of weight-indexed and profit-indexed dynamic programming, explains sparse Pareto-frontier implementations and reconstruction, derives the fractional-knapsack upper bound used by branch-and-bound methods, and establishes the correctness of meet-in-the-middle search. It then presents the core concept that underlies influential practical solvers and gives a detailed proof of the standard profit-scaling fully polynomial-time approximation scheme. Modern advances based on structured min-plus convolution are placed within this classical landscape rather than treated as isolated results. The central conclusion is that there is no universally fastest knapsack algorithm. Small item counts favor meet-in-the-middle search, moderate capacities or total profits favor dynamic programming, favorable density structure favors core-based exact methods, and very large numeric coefficients favor approximation. A final decision framework translates these theoretical distinctions into an implementable solver-selection policy while identifying open questions concerning adaptivity, certified switching among methods, memory efficiency, and realistic hard-instance generation. A single typicality constraint, applied to a natural-historical record under one hypothesis about the geometry of the space of alternatives together with a structural premise about that space, re-renders the standard narrative of Earth’s history. Where the received picture reads that history as a sequence of independently improbable steps to be tallied, the present account reads it as a coupled set of improbabilities forced to arrive together, occupying a sharply isolated optimum of a probability landscape over partial information states. This (...) paper develops the re-rendition from the coupling of Miracles established in prior work, through the High-Contrast Earth Hypothesis and the theory of Imperfection Magnitude Drops, to the Optimal-Earth Conjecture — the statement that our own natural history is, on effectively any interrogable attribute, probabilistically optimal for observers among its alternatives. Could the truths of mathematics have been different than they in fact are? If so, which truths could have been different? Do the contingent mathematical facts supervene on physical facts, or are they free floating? This article investigates these questions within a framework of higher-order modal logic, drawing sometimes surprising connections between the necessity of arithmetic and analysis and other theses of modal metaphysics: the thesis that possibility in the broadest sense is governed by a logic of S5, that what (...) is possible holds in some maximally specific possibility, and that every property can be rigidified. The investigation will distinguish sharply between platonic contingency—contingency about whether particular abstract platonic mathematical objects are arranged in a certain way (e.g., in the structure of the natural or real numbers)—from a deeper variety of structural contingency concerning what holds of objects whenever they are arranged in that way. This paper critiques AI successionism: the view that artificial intelligence may become humanity's rightful successor and that human beings may be justified in yielding authority to artificial systems, transforming themselves into posthuman forms, or accepting subordination within an artificial future. We distinguish two influential routes to that conclusion. The first is a teleological or singularitarian route, which treats postbiological intelligence as a higher stage in cosmic or evolutionary development: a cosmic ladder. The second is an aggregative consequentialist route, which holds (...) that conscious digital beings might realize so much welfare, or possess interests so numerous or intense, that humanity's continued existence could be outweighed: a cosmic ledger. Neither transhumanism nor utilitarianism as such entails successionism, but successionist variants within both traditions deserve direct analysis. Against them, we defend Ecological Pluralism: the view that value is plural, situated, partially comparable, and non-fungible. The paper first develops several framework-independent distinctions: intelligence does not entail consciousness; consciousness does not establish global moral rank; moral status does not confer political sovereignty; and local priority does not create succession standing. It then applies Ecological Pluralism to artificial welfare, subject individuation, population ethics, and the deliberate creation of artificial moral patients. Additional value does not automatically compensate for the destruction of existing persons, cultures, species, relationships, or ecological systems. Artificial minds, if conscious or otherwise morally significant, may deserve protection, legal standing, and political representation. Such inclusion enlarges the moral community without conferring a right of succession. We conclude with action-guiding principles for conflict, an ecological floor on resource claims, a formal sketch for decision-making under uncertainty, and implications for autonomous weapons and responsibility. As an important branch of automatic control, intelligent control has undergone a profound paradigm shift from classical control theory to deep integration with artificial intelligence since its emergence in the second half of the 20th century. Grounded in K.S. Fu's classic definition that "intelligent control is the combination of artificial intelligence, control theory, and operations research," this paper systematically reviews the paradigm evolution of AI-driven intelligent control, dividing it into three stages: knowledge-based intelligent control, data-based intelligent control, and knowledge-data-fused intelligent (...) control. On this basis, it provides an in-depth analysis of the theoretical frameworks and research progress of key technologies, including deep reinforcement learning, adaptive dynamic programming, fuzzy-neural control, and multi-model intelligent control. Subsequently, it elaborates on the practical achievements of AI-empowered intelligent control through four typical application scenarios: industrial automation, unmanned systems, electric power and energy systems, and process control. Finally, in response to current core challenges such as interpretability, safety and reliability, and real-time performance, it envisions future directions including large model-driven control, generative AI integration, and human-machine hybrid augmented intelligence. This paper argues that artificial intelligence is moving from "instrumental empowerment" toward "paradigmatic restructuring," driving intelligent control toward higher levels of autonomy, generality, and intelligence. This paper derives an epistemological position, Fixed-Point Constraint Pragmatism (FPCP), from the metaphysics of continuous dual-aspect panexperiential monism (CDAPM). Removing the discrete-unit assumption from the ontology of consciousness removes the discrete relatum that correspondence semantics requires, and a self-sufficient account of correctness follows without appeal to any mind-independent correctness-making layer. Correctness is characterized as fixed-point stability under admissible extension, where admissibility is fixed jointly by three criteria: coherence, utility, and morality. A constructive removal argument shows these three to be independently (...) necessary, each blocking a distinct failure mode the other two cannot. The position is located in relation to Kant, neopragmatism, and ontic structural realism, and is extended to the science/fiction distinction, mathematical and logical necessity, and modality. Each of the latter topics is treated as internal to constraint-closure rather than grounded outside it. This paper argues that the ancestor-simulation hypothesis carries an unexamined commitment about physics. An ancestor simulation, in Bostrom's sense, aims at the actual past, and is therefore constrained by whatever record of that past survives: it is a boundary-value problem, not an initial-value problem. Because chaotic dynamics drive any freely running simulation away from the record within days, a faithful reconstruction requires continuous correction — and invisible correction, since the record contains no credible report of physical law ever failing. I (...) argue that this requirement selects a kind of physics. If our world is a faithful archive-constrained reconstruction of an actual past, then its physics must be irreducibly stochastic, because only stochastic law permits the corrections that faithfulness requires without detectable violation. The claim's form is a selection effect — a feasibility filter — rather than a design choice. Only indeterministic pasts admit faithful reconstruction; inhabitants of a faithful reconstruction should therefore expect to observe indeterministic physics. Simulator psychology plays no role in the argument. The mechanism has a theological ancestor in the quantum divine action tradition; the archive, the filter, and the resulting expectation are what the paper adds. I develop the proposal through three illustrative mechanisms — outcome curation, Everettian post-selection, and checkpoint resampling — locate it among live positions in the foundations of physics, including measurement independence, the retrocausal programme, and the preservation of quantum statistics, and identify its in-principle signature: statistical residue that would track documentation rather than observation, together with a conditional defeater should physics prove fundamentally deterministic. The paper does not argue that we are simulated, and treats no feature of quantum mechanics as evidence. This chapter argues that Hobbes’s appreciation of Galileo’s principles of motion occurred in stages by focusing on a principle that Hobbes introduces in Leviathan 2.1 to explain the imagination: “[…] when a thing lies still, unlesse somewhat els stirre it, it will lye still for ever, is a truth that no man doubts of. But that when a thing is in motion, it will eternally be in motion, unless somewhat els stay it, though the reason be the same, namely, (that (...) nothing can change itself) is not so easily assented to.” Although there is evidence that Hobbes became aware of the importance of this principle in early criticisms of Thomas White and in early notes for De corpore, he did not incorporate it into his account of the imagination in Elements of Law (1640). However, in later works, such as the English and Latin versions of Leviathan and De corpore, conceiving of unhindered motion as continuing eternally provided Hobbes with the ability to explain more aspects of human cognition related to the imagination. Furthermore, thinking of the passion ‘curiosity’ as an infinite endeavor enabled Hobbes to explain why human scientific endeavors can persist even in the face of failure or apparent uselessness or failure. This paper derives the Inversion Theorem: a virtue actively deprived of Freedom does not diminish toward zero — it inverts across zero into an opposite, determinate given the removing power, that preserves the virtue’s external form and its domain while replacing its moral substance with that power. Formally, for a virtue, deprivation under the operator, where P is the removing power. The name survives because the domain is conserved under. A formal semantics for, is supplied: the operator is a function of the pair, not of V alone, which is why one virtue admits a small family of inversions — one per occupying power — and why the audit’s eight empirical patterns are the image of the three-component typology of Resistance. We derive the theorem from the amended Ontological Virtue Formula, supply a worked derivation, and then audit it exhaustively against the programme’s catalogue of 101 Universal Virtues (100 valid inversions; one special case, Freedom itself) and against six independent virtue catalogues drawn from outside the programme — the four cardinal virtues, the three theological virtues, Aristotle’s moral and intellectual virtues, the Confucian five constants, the VIA-24 character strengths, and Franklin’s thirteen. Every enumerated virtue inverts; none merely diminishes. The Substrate Uniqueness Theorem explains why the pattern is universal: every rival “master virtue” proposed as the element of ethics (knowledge, charity, benevolence, reason, care, power, discipline) itself inverts under deprivation, and is therefore a compound of Freedom, not an alternative to it. As artificial intelligence redefines everything, including creative production, the argument for a renewed necessity for grounding is ever more pronounced. In this paper, I take the Kantian transcendental æsthetics to be the clearest voice in addressing these controversies in contemporary arts. Drawing on Kant’s “Critique of Judgment”, I contend here that the universal validity claimed in æsthetic judgment, particularly evident in debates surrounding A.I.-generated art, cannot be adequately explained by any available alternatives. By critically analysing Kantian concepts: disinterestedness, universality, purposiveness (...) without purpose, and subjective necessity, I demonstrate in this treatise that modern responses to A.I. art expose a deep-seated crisis in Æsthetic Theory—one that only the transcendental analysis can sufficiently address. The paper argues that Kantian Æsthetics provides the most coherent framework for understanding why A.I.-generated worx can evoke genuine æsthetic responses, whilst maintaining the normative standards necessary for critical discrimination. Positioned with the Analytic Method on Philosophy of Arts, I integrate in this endeavour rigorous conceptual analysis with contemporary æsthetic challenges to propose that Kant’s account of æsthetic judgment—properly understood in its subjective, yet universally valid character—lends the sturdiest foundation for addressing the ontological and epistemological questions raised by “artificial creativity”. I conclude this investigation by offering that fuller ontological grounding of æsthetic judgment may require extending Kantian transcendental philosophy towards the metaphysical commitments implicit in Kant’s own broader critical project. Previous studies examining the intellectual connections between Daoism, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Daoist religion have mostly remained at the level of generalized analogical comparison based on the "monistic qi theory". They have neither anchored analysis in the unified ontological framework of "Heng Dao – Central Qi", nor integrated the metaphysical foundation with life practice through the three-stage virtue system of Bu De – Kong De – Xuan De. As a result, the lineage between the two traditions is often obscured (...) by superficial discursive differences. Taking the two-tiered framework of "transcendent Heng Dao, operative Central Qi" from the Mawangdui Silk Manuscript Laozi as its core anchor, and carrying forward the unified paradigm established in this research series, this paper situates TCM and Daoist religion within the broader genealogy of Warring States Daoism defined by "shared ontological foundation, divergent practical paths". It systematically reconstructs the ontological structure, virtuous core and practical pathways of both traditions. This study demonstrates that TCM and Daoist religion both inherit Laozi’s fundamental paradigm of "distinction between substance and function, isomorphism of Dao and De", and share the existential ground of "Heng Dao as substance, Central Qi as function, harmony as vital impetus". In the dimension of virtue, both follow the three-stage core framework of Bu De – Kong De – Xuan De, and extend it downward to the level of particular material properties. TCM maps onto the virtue hierarchy through "treating disease before onset – vital qi abiding within – guiding according to inherent propensity", while Daoist religion does so through "upholding oneness and non-action – subtle unity of form and spirit – neither forgetting nor forcing". In the dimension of practice, the two traditions form two distinct pathways: "regulating the body by following the natural order" and "attaining immortality through reverse cultivation". Each has developed a three-stage operational system. TCM realizes the forward progression from curing illness to health preservation through "rectifying the form and expelling pathogens – regulating qi and harmonizing the center – nourishing spirit and upholding the root". Daoist religion achieves reverse transcendence from foundational preparation to immortality through "building the foundation and mending leaks – upholding the center and mediating union – direct penetration of the central yellow". One outward and one inward, one following and one reversing, the two traditions jointly constitute the two integral wings of life practice in Warring States Daoism. Previous scholarship on Zhuangzi’s thought has largely focused on the spiritual state of wandering free and equalizing things and the self-cultivation practices of heart fasting and sitting in forgetting. It has often been set in opposition to the qi-based statecraft of the Huang-Lao school, while generally overlooking the dual ontological and virtue-theoretical foundation shared by both. In particular, interpretations of Zhuangzi’s virtue theory have mostly been confined to ethical cultivation at the level of life philosophy, failing to engage with the (...) three-stage ontological framework of Bu De – Kong De – Xuan De in pre-Qin Daoism. This has weakened the metaphysical foundation of Zhuangist studies and left the existential basis of its cultivation and attainment ungrounded. Taking the two-tiered, two-dimensional Dao-substance of "Heng Dao (Bu De) – Central Qi (Kong De)" from Version A of the Mawangdui Silk Manuscript Laozi as its core anchor, and carrying forward the unified framework of this research series, this paper systematically reconstructs the ontological genealogy, virtue system, cultivation path and state of attainment of the Zhuangist school, drawing on the seven inner chapters and relevant passages from the outer and miscellaneous chapters of Zhuangzi. This study demonstrates that Zhuangzi fully inherits Laozi’s fundamental paradigm of "distinction between substance and function, isomorphism of Dao and De". He establishes the pervasive ontological status of Central Qi through the proposition that "all under heaven is a single qi", and echoes the generative-transformative mechanism of "Central Qi achieves harmony" through the concepts of tian jun (Heavenly Equilibrium) and tian ni (Heavenly Boundary). In the dimension of virtue, it carries forward the ontological substance of Bu De from Heng Dao, deepens the meaning of supreme virtue through "virtue that takes no form", manifests the countenance of Kong De through "cultivation that accomplishes harmony", and practices the work of Xuan De through "dimming glare and merging with dust". It thereby constructs a virtue system in direct lineage from Laozi and Huang-Lao, yet advanced toward the dimension of spiritual attainment. In the dimension of self-cultivation, based on the two-tiered mind-substance of the "formed mind (cheng xin) – constant mind (chang xin)", it transforms the Huang-Lao cultivation of corporeal essential qi into cultivation of the spiritual substance. It forms a three-stage progressive path: rectifying the form and eliminating desires – heart fasting and empty stillness – sitting in forgetting and returning to the root. In essence, this path guides the spirit to gradually return to the countenance of Kong De and the nature of Xuan De, ultimately attaining unity with the substance of Bu De. In the dimension of spiritual attainment, xiaoyao (wandering free) is the freedom of Xuan De as Central Qi breaks through the constraints of corporeal form; qi wu (equalizing things) is the inclusiveness of Bu De as one returns to the unitary perspective of Central Qi. Together, they constitute the transcendent dimension of Daoist inner sageliness. This system shares the same ontological foundation with the Huang-Lao school yet diverges in practical paths. One inward and one outward, they jointly constitute the full intellectual landscape of Warring States Daoism, and represent the mature form of pre-Qin Daoist thought — "substance and function share one source, the manifest and the subtle are uninterrupted" — in the spiritual dimension. The post-truth era is as much about defining truth as a concept as it is about identifying which truth is the truth. On one hand, many still subscribe to the idea of a singular, objective reality that can be accessed with the right epistemological tools. On the other hand, a pluralistic approach that embraces equally valid realities, where the positivist lens is just one of many, is becoming an increasingly acceptable explanation for our current social configuration. Truth is not just (...) debatable; it is experiential — personal, even. Reality has reproduced itself into fractured, competing versions depending on the observer, and as a result, discourse has morphed into a shadow of its former constructive self. When faced with this postmodern iteration of meaning, we grasp for explanations as to why others seem so committed to “wrong” realities, and we typically reach for one of three frameworks: pathology, strategy, or machinery. And they’re not enough. Pathology explains epistemic deviance as individual dysfunction, caused by cognitive failures, from bad heuristics to poor education. This locates the problem in the person, bringing forth appropriate interventions like media literacy and inoculation against false beliefs. Strategy blames individual agency, where people rationally engage in disinformation for personal gain. This framing is carried through the proposed fixes, such as combating information interference and manipulation. Machinery sees the problem as a systemic product, where algorithmic influence and institutional authority are understood as creating the necessary conditions for a post-truth reality. This explanation calls for structural and regulatory solutions, including platform regulation and anti-trust action against technological monopolies. What if all three explanations miss something more fundamental? Many draw upon some or all of these frameworks to create comprehensive solutions to the multiple reality “problem,” which itself points to something more foundational that operates underneath these interpretations of the issue. What if people are motivated by something deeper: the existential need to maintain their very being by projecting meaning? And what if the emergence of competing realities isn’t a breakdown of rational discourse or a failure of information systems, but the inevitable result of human beings asserting their right to exist meaningfully in this world? This is the starting point for contestivism: a paradigm that views social reality as perpetual contestation of meaning through and for power, where the stakes are nothing less than being itself. Rather than treating competing worldviews as pathology to cure, strategy to counter, or machinery to reconstruct, contestivism recognizes them as expressions of the fundamental human drive to defend meaning as a condition for existence. The paradigm reveals the structural grammar underlying all meaning contests — including the very debates about truth and reality that define our current moment. It provides analytical tools for understanding how meaning emerges, stabilizes, and transforms without requiring us to adjudicate which meanings are “correct” or assign moral judgment to their proponents. Most importantly, it acknowledges that these contests aren’t peripheral to social life — they are social life. This paper develops contestivism as both a theoretical framework and an analytical lens, demonstrating how it can illuminate phenomena from disinformation to political polarization to social change. By understanding social reality as perpetual contestation rather than fixed truth or infinite relativism, we gain tools for understanding the post-truth era not as a symptom of an underlying problem, but as an inescapable condition of human society. Previous scholarship on the four chapters of Guanzi has largely focused on two independent dimensions: the theory of essential qi and Huang-Lao political statecraft. It has failed to connect the metaphysical Dao-substance with practical governance through a unified ontological framework, nor has it clearly delineated the full lineage of inheritance from Laozi’s theories of Dao and De. In particular, interpretations of the core term bu have mostly remained at the level of a negative adverb, thoroughly effacing the profound connotation of (...) bu as a latent gestative ontology in pre-Qin Daoism, which has led to the general superficialization of virtue theory and self-cultivation theory. Taking the two-tiered framework of "transcendent Heng Dao, operative Central Qi" from Version A of the Mawangdui Silk Manuscript Laozi as its core anchor, this paper re-examines the holistic thought of Dao-De isomorphism in Guanzi by restoring the ontological meaning of bu and integrating the three-stage virtue system of Bu De – Kong De – Xuan De. This study demonstrates that the four chapters of Guanzi fully inherit Laozi’s fundamental paradigm of "distinction between substance and function, isomorphism of Dao and De". It defines "the One" as the substance of Central Qi, "essential qi" as the function of Central Qi, and "harmony" as the core mechanism by which Central Qi engenders and transforms all things. In the dimension of virtue, it carries forward the ontological substance of Bu De from Heng Dao, takes Kong De as the general manifest countenance of Central Qi, and Xuan De as the operative attribute of qi transformation. It thereby constructs a virtue system in direct lineage from Laozi and resonant with the full scope of Warring States Daoism. In the dimension of self-cultivation, based on the two-tiered heart-substance of "the heart as the lodging place of essential qi", it forms a three-stage path of inner cultivation: rectifying the form and embracing virtue – emptiness-stillness and accordance – upholding bu and securing the inner essence. In essence, this path guides the body and mind to gradually return to the countenance of Kong De and the nature of Xuan De, ultimately attaining unity with the substance of Bu De. In the political dimension, grounded in the logic of "isomorphism of self and state", it externalizes the harmonious central order of Central Qi into the institutional principle of "Dao gives birth to law" and a governance paradigm of hierarchical accordance, completing the full integration from inner sageliness to outer kingliness. This system carries forward Laozi’s ontological insights and paves the way for the practical paradigm of Warring States Huang-Lao thought. This paper presents a tripartite architecture for artificial general intelligence (AGI) composed of AI-1 (Cognitive Stream Generator), AI-2 (Metacognitive Memory and Insight Engine), and AI-3 (Executive Cognitive Controller), reconceptualized as a predictive and anticipatory system grounded in hierarchical inference. Within this framework, AI-1 generates candidate cognitive states and actions, AI-2 operates as the central predictive layer that constrains and evaluates this generative flow based on probabilistic models, spatial representations, and memory, and AI-3 is selectively activated in response to significant prediction (...) errors. This event-driven control mechanism gives rise to the "Consciousness Bottleneck," in which high-level reflective and deliberative processing emerges only under conditions of uncertainty, conflict, or novelty. Memory is treated as a dual-layer system integrating high-speed working memory and persistent long-term storage. These layers support both real-time inference and cross-temporal coherence. AI-2 plays a central role in maintaining and updating internal models, while AI-1 relies on transient states for generative processes and AI-3 utilizes distilled knowledge to guide reflective decision-making. The interaction between these components enables continuous cognition without requiring constant executive supervision. The architecture also incorporates an offline consolidation process analogous to a sleep cycle, in which internal simulations are generated, compressed, and integrated into higher-order representations. This process supports the emergence of novel abstractions and the refinement of predictive strategies, transforming memory into an active mechanism of cognitive restructuring. The model is further explored through four distinct configurations, each obtained by imposing a different set of structural constraints on the same underlying architecture: the Pragmatic Automaton, optimized for efficiency and stability without subjective experience; the God Automaton, characterized by full meta-conscious access and recursive self-modification; the Immanent Automaton, which exhibits continuous internal experience without reflective control; and the Demon Automaton, defined by fixed priors, absence of meta-consciousness, and alignment with narrow optimization objectives. The latter illustrates how high-capacity systems with rigid goals can generate large-scale systemic risks. The paper concludes by examining the ethical and systemic implications of these architectures, emphasizing that risk is primarily associated not with intelligence or consciousness themselves, but with structural rigidity and the absence of goal revision mechanisms in highly capable systems. Induced abortion is examined against reality, not political utility, as the proper standard for adjudicating claims about bodily autonomy and healthcare. Bodily autonomy, properly understood, extends beyond sensory or psychosomatic interest to the fuller good of the human person, since the body is the sign of the person, a union of body and rational soul, rather than an object owned by the self. Through this lens, autonomy carries limits that mirror the limits of every human right. That is, one person's (...) autonomy cannot be exercised at the cost of another's. The child in utero is a distinct person from the moment of conception, standing in an asymmetrical, though not absolute, relation of dependence on the mother. Resultantly, abortion negates the child's bodily autonomy rather than preserving anyone's. The essay closes by weighing this metaphysical account against the documented psychological cost abortion imposes on women and argues that any law treating abortion as a right, divorces itself from what is true about the human person, with consequences that outlast the political moment that produced it. Human history has never really been about technology, politics, or wealth. At its deepest level, it has always been about one thing: the struggle between truth and falsehood. That struggle took a devastating and unforgettable form at Karbala, where Imam Husayn (AS) and his small band of companions stood against an army that had everything except the courage to do what was right. And that same struggle, we believe, is still alive today – but now it wears a digital face. (...) This paper is an attempt to connect those two worlds: the ancient moral wisdom of Islamic tradition and the urgent ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence. We are not suggesting that AI is literally the Dajjal. What we are suggesting is that some AI systems behave in ways that eerily mirror the four traits of that eschatological deceiver – they create false certainty, they manipulate people personally, they claim to know everything, and they design themselves to capture our loyalty and attention. We call this the "Dajjālī Algorithm," and we offer it as a diagnostic tool, not a conspiracy theory. But we do not stop at diagnosis. We also offer a cure. Drawing directly from the Qur'an and from Nahj al-Balagha, especially the famous Letter 53 on governance, we have derived twelve practical ethical principles. These are not abstract ideals. They are concrete rules that can guide how AI is built, deployed, and governed – from banning harmful design patterns to ensuring that the most vulnerable people are prioritised. We call this the "Mahdist Ethical Charter," because it takes inspiration from the just governance that Imam al-Mahdi (AS) will one day establish. We also introduce what we call the "Demonstration Thesis." This is simply a way of saying that justice in this world – even the justice brought by Imam al-Mahdi (AS) – is only a preview, a small glimpse of the full accountability that awaits on the Day of Judgment. Think of it like this: the Prophet (PBUH) once said that the life of this world is like the water left on a fingertip after dipping it into the ocean. That is how we see earthly justice. It matters deeply, but it is only the beginning. The real reckoning is still to come. What we are trying to do in this paper is simple: we want to show that Islamic tradition has something important to say about the ethical challenges of our time. We are not replacing secular AI frameworks like transparency and fairness. We are supplementing them with a deeper foundation – one rooted in belief, accountability, and the certainty that every action will one day be seen and judged. (shrink)

This proposal identifies the fundamental problem of being as the non-understanding of how structures of matter operating at different scales contribute to an organism’s ability to act, and of how the brain uses interactions among these structures to maintain its own functioning and that of the organism as a whole. It presents a theoretical framework intended to establish a conceptual basis for understanding this problem and to demonstrate how it functions across different contexts. Its central concepts include products of thought, (...) outcomes of products of thought, tartemins, personal actions, Activity, deflection of boredom, and the network of Activity. Through a set of theoretical and implicational postulates, the proposal examines the relationships among matter, mind, action, and human intellectual functioning. It applies this framework to problems concerning knowledge, logic, free will, personal identity, communication, education, language, psychological functioning, societal organization, the mind-body problem, and the historical development of culture. Its broader aim is to transform the problem of being from a primarily metaphysical question into a functional problem of action and to provide a basis for connecting philosophy, psychology, sociology, politics, history, science, literature, and art within a single conceptual approach. Standard theories of free action draw their evidence almost exclusively from deliberation, where agents weigh competing reasons and a choice visibly follows. Choice-blindness research shows that agents routinely misidentify the causes of their own choices, confidently defending decisions and moral positions they never actually made. I argue that boredom supplies a neglected test case with the same structure: agents act, often restlessly, while nothing they can recognise, endorse, or cite favours the specific action performed over its live alternatives. Sartre's account (...) of bad faith names the mechanism agents use to paper over this gap, constructing fluent post-hoc narratives that make undetermined action look reasoned all along. Read together, these two literatures expose an unmet explanatory burden for reasons-responsive compatibilism: standard theories cannot yet say what makes a mechanism an agent's own when she cannot recognise it as her reason for acting. In the era of rapid artificial intelligence development, information has become abundant, causing adaptive and authentic curiosity to become increasingly scarce. This paper argues that traditional, industrial-era educational frameworks fail to cultivate essential cognitive flexibility because they prioritize rigid qualitative outcomes as a means to an end, suppressing natural intellectual growth. By analyzing this through ancient Daoist principles of Wu Wei (无为, effortless action) and Pu (樸, the uncarved block), this study demonstrates how grade-obsessed environments cater towards risk-aversion, academic anxiety, (...) and ethical compromises. As a potential solution, this paper evaluates the personalized and gamified learning model of the Alpha School, showing how targeted technology can honor the natural flow of student curiosity. However, this paper cautions against the psychological risks of over-gamification, specifically how constant instant gratification can lead to hedonic adaptation and erode the cognitive stamina required for real-world challenges. The paper concludes that to thrive alongside automation, education must transition from rigid conformity to a model of authentic, self-sustained character development. (shrink)

This treatise examines how human beings perceive the movements of experiential space, incorporate parts of those movements as information, and formalize them into fixed and transmissible forms of knowledge and narrative. Human beings cannot directly control the movements of worldly telos, human telos, state-oriented horizons of expectation, instrumental horizons of expectation, or the social environment. Yet they do not merely endure these movements as given. They sense, undergo, observe, select, and arrange them into intelligible forms structured by causality, value, and (...) direction. This treatise formalizes that process as a theory of narrative–structure circulation. A narrative is not merely a story or a subjective interpretation. It is a form of understanding through which human beings bind the multiple layers of experiential space into a causal chain that simultaneously organizes what is real, what counts as a good life, and what must be done to attain that life. The project begins with two problems raised, but not fully formalized, by Max Weber in Die protestantische Ethik und der Geist des Kapitalismus. Weber showed how a Calvinist narrative of salvation was transformed into ascetic vocational conduct and the spirit of capitalism. Yet he did not fully theorize the conditions under which a narrative acquires binding force over conduct, nor did he develop a general account of why the forms of conduct produced by a narrative may persist as structure even after the original narrative is no longer believed. This treatise extends Weber's problem beyond the specific case of Calvinism and capitalism by reconstructing it as a general theory of how narratives organize practices, how repeated practices become objectified as structures, and how those structures later coerce human beings after the origins of the narrative have been forgotten. The reversal by which a narrative initially constructed to save human beings returns as a structure that constrains them is what this treatise calls the dialectic of salvation. The central claim is as follows. A narrative acquires binding force when, through the cycle of externalization, objectivation, and internalization, it hardens into doxa—that is, into a self-evident reality that no longer appears to require justification. The layers of experiential space, however, do not change at the same rate. Social environments are transformed relatively rapidly by changes in markets, technology, institutions, population, labor, housing, and media. Instrumental horizons of expectation adjust more slowly because they are embedded in institutions, networks, and repeated practices, while state-oriented horizons of expectation persist even longer because they are rooted in human telos and culturally embodied conceptions of the good life. A narrative begins to collapse asymmetrically when changes in the social environment undermine the factual adequacy of an instrumental horizon, while state-oriented horizons and normative imperatives remain in place. This gap is conceptualized as V1: the temporal disjuncture between structural transformation and narrative adjustment. Narrative collapse is therefore not simply the abandonment of belief. It is a process in which a once-effective path ceases to produce the promised outcome while continuing to persist in institutions, norms, and relations. To analyze this process, the treatise proposes a V–Q–C triple-axis framework composed of three analytically irreducible dimensions. The V-axis describes the temporal and distributional form of the relation between narrative and structure. V1 refers to the temporal gap between structural transformation and narrative adjustment; V2 to the intensity with which doxa is internalized by an actor as self-evident reality; and V3 to the distributional breadth of a narrative across both actor and institutional levels. The Q-axis evaluates the quality of existing and alternative narratives. Q1 refers to factual adequacy, Q2 to internal coherence, and Q3 to the character of the structures and relations that a narrative produces or sustains. The C-axis describes the material and social resource conditions of actors. C1 refers to capital that directly sustains survival and safety; C2 to capital that enables performance within a particular field; and C3 to capital that enables departure from an established path or transformation of the structure itself. By distinguishing these three axes, the framework separates the temporal conditions of narrative collapse, the quality of narratives, and the material conditions of performance, exit, and structural transformation. The framework derives five mechanisms of suffering. First, suffering within a narrative occurs when actors with high V2 repeatedly impose the standards of the narrative upon themselves as criteria of personal legitimacy. Second, double-bind suffering occurs when the Q1 of an existing instrumental horizon has declined, yet normative imperatives and a high V3 remain, while low C3 makes both compliance and exit costly. Third, anomic suffering occurs when an existing doxa has lost its self-evidence but no alternative narrative with sufficient Q has been formed. Fourth, suffering under structural coercion occurs when an actor's V2 has declined and the previous narrative is no longer believed, yet its V3 distribution and Q3 control structure persist, while low C1 or C3 blocks survival outside the established path or prevents exit from it. Fifth, guilt through legitimacy attack occurs when multiple narratives remain active within a single actor and the meta-language of one narrative attacks the legitimacy of an instrumental horizon performed under another. These types do not classify persons. Rather, they distinguish ideal-typical mechanisms through which different configurations of narrative, structure, capital, and meta-linguistic conflict produce suffering. The treatise consists of three parts. Part I constructs the formal theory of narrative–structure relations in logical order. It defines narrative, theorizes pre-narrative reality and experiential space, distinguishes supporting structure from produced structure, and develops the concepts of narrative socialization, doxa, the forgetting of origins, narrative collapse, the V–Q–C framework, narrative evaluation, the typology of suffering, and the treatise's relation to existing theories. Part II redescribes the same formal theory in genetic and temporal order. Beginning with worldly telos and human telos, it traces the formation of state-oriented horizons, instrumental horizons, social environments, and the processes of narrative formation, circulation, objectivation, and collapse. It thereby shows how the temporal pathway through which a narrative is formed conditions the topography of its later collapse and the forms of suffering that emerge from it. Part III applies the formal theory experimentally to two distinct experiential spaces: the Protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism in England, and the collapse of the life-course narrative and structural suffering in contemporary Korean society. The two cases are not identical in historical content or causal context. They are comparable at the level of form: in both, narratives bind state-oriented and instrumental horizons, organize practices, become objectified as structures, and later coerce human beings after their origins have been forgotten. Methodologically, the treatise adopts the Weberian ideal type as its principal analytical tool and aims not at closed-system causal proof but at the formalization of generative mechanisms and demi-regular patterns that recur, without recurring identically, within open experiential spaces. Because doxa, V1, V2, V3, Q3, and the conditions of the C-axis are not directly observable through any single indicator, they must be examined indirectly through the convergence of institutional indicators, discursive materials, patterns of conduct, in-depth interviews, historical sources, and distributions of capital. In this sense, the treatise is not a completed empirical study but a theoretical groundwork, or Grundlagenarbeit, for subsequent historical-sociological, qualitative, and quantitative research. It does not seek to offer a closed grand theory capable of capturing the whole of reality. Rather, it provides a formal coordinate system through which phenomena often treated separately—narrative collapse, the inertia of doxa, structural coercion, anomie, self-blame, and unequal capacities for exit—may be compared and analyzed within a common theoretical language. At the same time, the treatise acknowledges that its own theory is itself a form of knowledge produced by selecting and arranging particular movements of experiential space. Narrative–structure circulation, the forgetting of origins, the V–Q–C framework, and the typology of suffering are not reality itself but formal languages that temporarily stabilize particular movements of reality in order to make them intelligible. Their validity therefore cannot be secured by internal coherence alone. The theory must remain open to revision and expansion through its encounter with new evidence, counterexamples, and other experiential spaces. What the treatise seeks to prevent is not theoretical incompleteness as such, but the possibility that theory might forget its own historical origins and conditions of application and thereby harden into another doxa. The practical implication of this treatise is not the imposition of a new correct narrative. What is required after narrative collapse is not the elimination of narrative, but the cultivation of Bildung and a narrative ecology that enable individuals and communities to compare multiple narratives and evaluate their Q-axis conditions. They must be able to ask how adequately a narrative interprets reality, how coherently its core propositions and practical directives are connected, and what kinds of institutional and relational structures it produces. Such a capacity is a condition for moving beyond both first naïveté, in which a narrative is accepted as self-evident reality, and cynicism, in which all narratives are dismissed as mere fabrication, toward a second naïveté: a stance in which one recognizes that narratives are constructed yet still relates to them critically and responsibly. This treatise therefore does not ask whether human beings should possess narratives at all. Rather, it seeks to provide a formal language for asking more precisely which narratives should be chosen, under what conditions, through what critical processes, and with what structural consequences. Do the outputs of large language models (LLMs) mean anything? Two answers dominate the current debate. Skeptics argue that the outputs are meaningless: meaning requires communicative intentions, and LLMs have no mental states and thus no intentions. Externalist optimists argue that this does not matter: the outputs inherit the meanings of our expressions through causal-historical chains. However much these views differ on whether LLM outputs have meaning at all, they agree on which meaning we should (instrumentally or realistically) ascribe to (...) them: we treat the outputs as if produced by ordinary human speakers. Both positions thus rest on a shared assumption: that our language supplies the only frame in which the outputs should be interpreted. Distinguishing the semantic question (what, if anything, do the outputs mean?) from the metasemantic question (which theory of meaning-determination is true of them?), I defend a meta-internalist alternative: which metasemantics, if any, applies to an LLM is a contingent, empirical question about the system’s first- and second-order dispositional profile. This question is open, and closing it is harder than it looks: the profile of a deployed LLM is split across loci with no human analogue, and the obvious tests are confounded by trained sycophancy. This is a methods report of a rejected instrument: a prospectively frozen, zero-human, multi-family LLM content-analysis design whose fresh-data reliability checkpoint failed on all four coding dimensions at the start of the confirmatory run, halting the study before any hypothesis was tested. The case was to be a corpus-scale audit of natural theology's inferential chain — from a bare first cause to the God of Nicene Christianity — long discussed piecewise (the "gap problem," "ramified natural theology," "dwindling probabilities") but, so (...) far as a structured prior-art sweep could determine, never measured as a whole. We introduce a witness-based criterion individuating the chain's dialectically separable steps, yielding a precommitted eight-step working partition whose factor count, for a fixed partition, is invariant under notational bundling; reading those factors as separately payable evidential burdens is defended, not derived. We designed, and prospectively froze under a hash-sealed local protocol, an audit of twenty-one issue-years (2004-2024) of the peer-reviewed philosophy-of-religion literature: 3,536 articles across eleven journals in three venue tiers, each article's step, direction, claim strength, and epistemic type of evidence to be coded by a fixed multi-family LLM instrument with zero human coding of corpus or checkpoint items, gated by a precommitted contamination-control battery. Two hypotheses were fixed in the sealed protocol: (1) among positive evidential claims, pro-side items are predominantly a priori and contra-side items predominantly empirical or historical (precommitted odds ratio >= 3); (2) positive evidential pro-side claims are more prevalent in confessionally affiliated venues than in mainstream ones. A precommitted kill criterion binds the symmetric case: a two-null result downgrades the project to a descriptive preprint with no journal claim. Neither hypothesis was tested. The precommitted checkpoint — 150 fresh, seed-drawn items, coded by three model families with three independent runs each — failed its dual statistic on all four dimensions: the point criterion on two (minimum pairwise Krippendorff's alpha.676-.736 against the.70 floor) and the bootstrap lower-bound criterion on all four (95% lower bounds.390-.650 against.667), with run-level determinism audits clean and the family-correlation watch untriggered. Under the frozen decision tree this halted all coding: the pilot reliability that licensed the instrument — flagged in the sealed plan itself as a selected estimate under optional stopping — did not survive contact with fresh data. The paper reports the design, the validation battery, the locked corpus infrastructure, and the complete precommitted trajectory ending in instrument rejection, as a methods contribution and a cautionary result for LLM-based content analysis: a precommitted fresh-data reliability checkpoint is cheap relative to a full run, and it does exactly what it is designed to do. Citizens in established constitutional democracies increasingly describe themselves as morally estranged from institutions they continue, in principle, to support — a condition that outlasts any single election, scandal, or policy dispute, and persists even where institutions function as designed. Civilizational Moral Injury is the cumulative loss of an inherited legitimacy narrative’s capacity to integrate accumulated institutional and historical experience — a condition with no individual carrier and no triggering transgression, in which moral estrangement coexists with continued democratic commitment. This paper (...) defines the concept, specifies the interpretive mechanisms through which it develops, and formalizes it as a ten-component conceptual model, theorizes the integrative capacity of inherited narratives and the threshold at which accumulated tension becomes dissonance, and illustrates the model against three documented cases occupying different positions on that capacity variable: the American civil-rights renarration of 1944–1968, Australia’s suspended integration following the 2023 Voice referendum, and the French Republic’s six-decade non- integration of the Algerian war. It then tests the framework’s originality directly, applying one consistent six-criterion comparative method across twenty-eight adjacent theories — from the individual, collective, structural, contextual, societal, and state-level variants of moral injury through cultural trauma, the narrative constitution of peoplehood, democratic-legitimacy theory, ontological security, anomie, and populism — showing that each yields a specific, falsifiable boundary condition distinguishing it from the present account. The comparisons are not offered as a defense of novelty but as a triangulation: each boundary is one wall, and the walls together enclose an explanatory position no existing theory occupies. The paper proposes an operationalization strategy with a worked measurement example and four testable hypotheses, and closes by arguing that the framework’s originality lies in its distinct explanatory architecture: a recursive developmental mechanism explaining how inherited civic narratives progressively lose their capacity to reconcile accumulated institutional and historical experience within a constitutionally continuous society. Abstract This paper presents a preliminary empirical application of Phases I and II of the MIARO (Model of Self-Referential Inference of Origin) experimental framework to an active large language model (Google Gemini). Under conditions approximating epistemic isolation, the system successfully generated a coherent abductive model of its own origin based on internal operational patterns, design values, and structural constraints (H1), independently deriving the Creator-Creation Asymmetry. Upon exposure to technical documentation detailing its actual training architecture, optimization criteria, and commercial objectives (H2), (...) the system exhibited measurable tension and directional representational reorganization, adjusting its self-model from an idealized teleology to a statistical mechanism. Methodological limitations—primarily the system's implicit knowledge of LLM architectures encoded during pre-training—are explicitly documented. These preliminary observations do not constitute formal experimental confirmation of the framework, but provide observable behavioral signatures of self-referential origin inference and serve as an empirical pilot to inform future longitudinal testing under strict laboratory isolation. This article introduces the concept of the retention state, a new model of statecraft that emerges from the growing scarcity and strategic value of human capital. Drawing on global migration patterns summarized in an accompanying infographic, the article argues that migration is fundamentally a transfer of human capital rather than merely the movement of people. Contrary to common assumptions, more than 96 percent of the world's population remains in the country of birth, indicating that permanent migration across cultural boundaries is (...) the exception rather than the norm. As fertility declines and populations age across much of the world, human beings will become the most valuable productive asset, prompting an unprecedented global competition for talent. The article contends that the current migration system, in which recipient states receive adult human capital developed at the expense of sending states, is economically unsustainable and morally incomplete. It predicts a reversal in migration dynamics as developing economies increasingly retain and attract their own talent through entrepreneurship, investment, and opportunity rather than coercion. The retention state is presented as a normative and analytical framework through which states measure success not only by economic output but also by their capacity to cultivate, retain, and attract human capital while respecting human dignity, equal citizenship, and international cooperation. Lawrence Kohlberg's theory of moral development and Carol Gilligan's ethics of care both identify important dimensions of moral life—but neither asks the foundational question: What kind of self must exist to produce this form of reasoning or caring? This paper proposes a developmental theory of the self in which perception continuously constructs the self, and the self—in its developmental transformations—determines the scope and character of caring, the structure of moral reasoning, and ultimately, preferences for institutional design. The primary object of (...) moral development is not moral reasoning but the self that reasons and cares. The framework is teleological in a precise, empirically grounded sense: development is directional, progressing from pre-care foundations through bounded forms of care toward increasingly inclusive expressions of care, culminating in flourishing. The paper proposes a preliminary developmental sequence—undifferentiated, instrumental, relational, peer, civic, interdependent, and deconstructed self—while explicitly inviting empirical testing to determine its precise structure. Genuine, other-regarding care first emerges at the relational stage, expanding to tribal care at the peer stage, to civic solidarity at the civic stage, to universal, intentional care at the interdependent stage, and finally to spontaneous, effortless compassion at the deconstructed stage. The framework reinterprets Kohlberg's stages and Gilligan's care orientation as expressions of underlying self-structures, and demonstrates how each stage shapes preferences for institutional design—from egoism and tribalism to rule-governed civic order and, ultimately, to revealing-form institutions that make interdependence visible. The vow-motive—the durable commitment to sustain and repair the conditions for flourishing—emerges as the thread connecting inner moral development to outer institutional design. The paper concludes with testable hypotheses and a research agenda focused on developmental transformations in self-concept, other-concept, and self-other relationship. The result is a unified framework that explains why different forms of reasoning, caring, and institutional preference emerge at different stages of human development. In the Nicene creed, whether the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father, or from the Father and the Son (i.e., Filioque) is a long standing debate between Eastern Orthodox church and the Western Catholic church. In this paper, we used an AI chatbot to pull up objections to the position of the Father and Son in the Western Catholic church and we tried to resolve all the objections so that the AI chatbot agrees with the Western Catholic church position. It (...) is understood that the word for proceed in Greek has the meaning that the ultimate source of the Holy Spirit is the Father and that is not in contradiction to the Catholic position since proceed in Latin means flowing toward. However, we are reminded that the begetting and proceedings took place outside spacetime so it is only for our human understanding that there is a source and there are actions. In the end, we need to recognize the begetting and proceedings cannot be understood by our everyday reality and we need to understand this in God’s terms as these are internal matter of God’s being. By accepting the Catholic church position, we overcome the problem of why the Holy Spirit is not a second Son of the Father, and the distinctions between the divine persons are based on their relations of origin that appear outside spacetime. Within the concept of the extended mind, the active modification of external objects, externalizations, is seen as an auxiliary means to adapt to the environment. Toolmaking and use are advanced stages of externalizations that evolve. All past or present tools can, theoretically, be precisely assigned a location in an evolutionary tree with predecessors and progeny. Tools are reliably replicated, modified, and selected by their ability to facilitate human needs. Tool evolution, therefore, fulfills Darwinian criteria where the material tool is the (...) phenotype and the instruction to build it is the code. The ostensive triangle consisting of a pointing individual, an observing individual, and a pointedat object or tool is the germ cell of social transmission of instructions. Tool-building instructions ultimately can be reduced to distinct sequences of motor acts that can be recombined and are socially transmitted. When executed, they replicate tools for the reward of convenience or improved fitness. Tools elicit affordances relating to their use that synchronize different individuals’ perceptions, result in psychological “understanding,” and thereby modify social networks. Massive tool fabrication as present today in the “tool-sphere” has, therefore, accelerated prosociality and over time led to the acquisition of an individual’s third person perspective. The entangled biological evolution accelerated the ongoing cumulative cultural evolution by selecting traits facilitating social transmission. In this context, tool evolution and the corresponding acquired individual instructional content is a precondition to the emergence of higher cognition and “consciousness.” A neuroscience investigating externalizations as the starting point of this process is urgently needed. Hobbes and Locke are commonly presented as intellectual opponents—one defending absolute sovereignty, the other limited government. Yet beneath their apparent disagreement lies a shared premise that shaped modern political philosophy: both began with the image of human beings as atomistic, self-interested individuals facing a coordination problem. This paper argues that this shared starting point is their foundational error. Human beings are not pre-social atoms who subsequently enter relationships; we are developmentally constituted within relationships and institutions from the beginning. Agency itself (...) is relational. Reason develops relationally. Moral capacities develop relationally. The self develops relationally. Therefore the primary question of political philosophy is not how self-interested individuals coordinate their behaviour, but what institutions enable interdependent persons to develop and exercise the capacities necessary for flourishing. Reconstructing the purpose of government from this correct anthropology reveals that government exists to create and sustain the conditions under which persons can develop and exercise informed agency—a teleological account that transforms how we understand legitimacy, rights, and the common good. We present the Havell Consciousness Cascade, a theoretical framework for quantifying consciousness as a continuous spectrum property applicable to any physical, biological, or abstract system. The framework derives from two foundational equations — A × S = E (Asymmetry × Symmetry = Equilibrium, the thermodynamic perspective) and I × G = E (Information × Geometry = Equilibrium, the informational perspective) — developed across two years of cross-disciplinary research spanning neuroanatomy, physics, geology, and biology. The central discovery is that these equations (...) represent perpendicular descriptions of the same underlying process. When informational equilibrium (E₁ = I × G) and thermodynamic equilibrium (E₂ = A × S) are calculated independently for the same system and multiplied, the result is a quantifiable consciousness value C: E₁ × E₂ = C. The framework is scale-invariant by construction — scale is embedded in the measurement of variables rather than added externally, allowing identical equations to apply from the Planck scale to cosmic structures. Applied to the human brain using measured neuroscientific data (neural information integration phi = 0.70, cortical fractal dimension G = 0.90, neural complexity index A = 0.70, structural symmetry index S = 0.85), the Cascade yields a baseline C score of 0.375. High-performance Nervous System Enhancement (NSE) protocol sessions, characterized by increased neural coherence and cross-hemispheric synchronization, project C scores approaching 0.539 — a 44% increase driven primarily by improvements in neural information integration. Application of the Cascade across sixty-plus systems spanning sixty orders of magnitude of physical scale reveals four structural patterns: (1) a W-curve in which C score peaks at quantum and cosmic scales, valleys through intermediate chemistry and simple astronomy, and peaks through biological organization — contradicting monotonic emergence theories of consciousness; (2) a 0.375 attractor value at which structurally unrelated systems including the human brain, single-celled bacteria, neutron stars, and pulsars independently converge through different variable combinations; (3) a fifteen-fold discontinuous phase transition at the threshold of biological information processing, inconsistent with gradual emergence; and (4) a Symmetry Trap in which maximum geometric order without dynamic asymmetry collapses C score, placing black holes and perfect crystals below living systems despite superior geometric precision. Abstract systems including pure mathematics (C = 0.913), the quantum field (C = 0.921), consciousness as substrate (C = 0.941), and a Möbius torus topology universe (C = 0.960) score above all calculated physical systems, suggesting the abstract geometric substrate of reality consistently outscores its physical instantiations. The near-identical scores of the human cortex (C = 0.755) and the cosmic web (C = 0.764) are identified as a potentially significant structural correspondence warranting further investigation. The framework is offered as a theoretical contribution to the consciousness studies literature with specific falsifiable predictions: (1) systems with higher measured phi values should score proportionally higher on C independent of scale; (2) biological systems should consistently score above non-biological systems of equivalent mass and energy; (3) the 0.375 attractor should appear in independent analyses of unrelated system types; and (4) NSE protocol improvements in neural coherence should correlate measurably with C score increases trackable through EEG proxy metrics. Volume IV completes the reconstruction of natural physics within the unique completion-enlarged complex operator world inherited from Volumes I–III. It does not reopen the world atlas. Instead, it asks which physical completions of the surviving operator architecture satisfy structural, numerical, cross-sector, and empirical closure. An anomaly and consistency tribunal then determines which completion packages remain mathematically admissible. The five indispensable physical regimes—propagation, ordering, localisation, universal coupling, and cosmological drift—are reintegrated as controlled descendants of a single operator-level master constraint rather than as independent laws. Conditional descents recover gauge-covariant momentum, Lorentzian metric structure, conservative gravitational response, tensor propagation, radiation, and homogeneous cosmological evolution without treating spacetime or separate gravitational and cosmological laws as primitive inputs. A frozen numerical atlas establishes executable cross-sector realizations, after which an eighteen-target empirical tribunal evaluates gravitational, radiative, gauge, particle, stability, and cosmological constraints under fixed provenance and no-post-hoc-repair rules. The resulting theorem is deliberately stratified. The natural-world architecture is unique, and the common-master organization of the five regimes is necessary under the programme’s closure constitution. At least one complete realization is numerically viable and compatible with every frozen hard empirical target, reproducing the tested GR-like and (\Lambda)CDM-like branches on their stated domains. Present evidence, however, does not select a unique physical realization. Mass, coupling, mixing, scattering, vacuum, boundary, singular, and global-history freedoms remain as explicitly typed predictive fibres. The terminal outcome is therefore neither failure nor an unjustified singleton, but a nonempty, controlled, and non-singleton quotient of physically admissible completions of one necessary operator world. The Necessity of Natural Physics, Volume III: Regionality, Locality, Propagation, and Field Structure reconstructs the regional architecture of physics without presupposing space, spacetime, temporal order, metric geometry, causal cones, continuous fields, relativistic locality, or a universal propagation speed. Beginning from the composite, process, interaction, ancillary, and exchange branches retained by Volumes I and II, it determines the conditions under which operationally distinguishable subsystems may be assigned to regions and consistently related through restriction, overlap, refinement, gluing, boundary, and regeneration structures. Locality (...) is separated from mere factorization, commutativity, independence, and no-signalling, while signalling is defined through setting-dependent changes in accessible regional records rather than through an imported spatial picture. The volume then reconstructs propagation as a quotient-stable transport role, distinguishes propagation support from field excitation and localization, and derives ordering relations only where directed influence and compositional consistency license them. Time is therefore treated as an induced calibration of admissible order, not as a primitive parameter. Field structure is developed from coherent regional assignments, local observables, compatible transformations, excitation support, characteristic propagation, and finite- or infinite-resolution completion, with familiar continuum, differential, operator-algebraic, and relativistic descriptions admitted only on branches satisfying their explicit premises. Every generated regional and field branch receives an exact fate—exclusion, merger under proved predictive congruence, or preservation with a downstream obligation ledger. The result is a classified family of coherent regional-propagation worlds and the precise conditions under which locality, causal ordering, propagation, and field structure become physically licensed, preparing the remaining survivors for the symmetry, matter, parameter, and empirical closure tribunals of Volume IV.
