my immediate answer would be raddy dying. i havent actually thought about simon as extensively as id like simply because he doesnt personally interest me as much… sorry simon
the entire reason why he becomes abnormal in the first place is mainly because of raddy’s death. its presented as an option to him by mr black and he accepts. simon isnt really a vengeful person to me but i think this is a rare case where it happens
further context the abnormals in sprub (simon durple and vineria) arent forcefully made that way. i think its something they have to agree to. this is also why wenda isnt one
