Still shocked about the Mid-Season finale, BUT...
[I have a theory... that might or might not make sense (obvious Spoilers for 3x12!)]
I'm still shocked about the reveal, but I mean, after thinking about it for a couple of hours, I made my own theory about it... or maybe I'm just in denial and don't want to accept the truth (yeah, Toby is like my favourite character in "PLL" and I am looking for excuses XD)
First... I don't think he's "THE" A at all... and I still think there are a lot more A's out there...
Remember the Season 2 Finale? There is definitely MORE to that, because the person visiting Mona in the end... the person Mona was telling "I did everything you asked for" was a BLOND woman with a red coat if I remember right... blond LONG hair... so it's either Alison (or her twin if there is one) or maybe even Cece... after all Alison seemed to have learned from Cece - so DEFINITELY not Toby... but I also hope he joined the "A-Team" to protect the girls...
It somehow makes sense, right...? I mean, there WAS someone protecting Spencer from Ian back then in Season 1 in the belltower, and it WOULD make Sense for it to be Toby, right?
And Marlene said there were 2 thins Mona did NOT do... one thing was the massage... the other could be this one, since the person was bigger - I think... (maybe I'm wrong...)
So maybe he WAS part of the A-Team, tried to "get out" because he REALLY fell in love with Spencer, then almost "got killed" when he fell off this house which "forced him" to "join back in"? I know that's maybe just some silly thought of mine, but it WOULD make sense, right? We KNOW A would NEVER "just" let someone leave, so if Toby was all like "I'm not doing this anymore", he can be happy to still be alive... but that could have been a warming for both of them, Spencer AND Toby... and in this case A. defintiely has more than one reason for wanting to break Toby and Spencer up...
But like I said... maybe that's just some stupid silly hope of mine because I don't wanna believe that Toby is a "bad guy"... and in MY opinion he didn't look all too happy in the end either... and when he said good-bye to Spencer after they had sex he looked like he felt REALLY guilty... Maybe he's on the "A-Team" to protect her, because "Boss A" told him to hurt Spencer otherwise?

Am I totally out of my mind and just "paint everything in pink" because of my love for Toby? XD
