Please forward this to the general Las Cruces / El Paso community, especially groups for music students.
I am an experienced harpsichordist and recorder player, and also player of medieval instrument (formerly Sex Seacla). I have a musicology degree and had done some teachings (early Davis mixer). I came from Colonial Williamsburg and had performed there. I am looking for a few players of ability to form a small early music group, specialised from medieval to early Classical period. If you are a player of early music (singer, baroque or renaissance dancer, recorder, oboe, shawmn, violin, viol, cornetto, renaissance instrument, harpsichord, traverso, gamba, cello, etc.), please contact me.
The object of this group is to play music that is seldom heard, performed in its original score (facsimile) if possible, original pitch and temperament, and also settings (we can discuss this later). In short, we try to have a historical informed performance pratice group. This will not be just another Baroque group. Costumes will be nice (I have some, we can discuss this later).
I have more than one harpsichord and a few more instruments that I can share,
I also have space and recording equipment. I have tremendous amount of music ready to play, and they are not your average Baroque or Renaissance pieces. I live in downtown Las Cruces, easily accessable especially if you are an NMSU music student.
Nobody will be turned away. If there are more than two harpsichordists both will be played. I have music for that! If you are SCA or in theatre, we may need your help to make costume, or do baroque or renaissance dancing.
We can try to produce small baroque operas.
Please email me for details (recorder at cygoth dot com).
