trimming locs?

anyone ever trim or have advice on trimming locks?

i started locking in january...my locs stop just under my ears. they were started with a comb and now i've just been twisting w/ my fingers and palm rolling them myself. i like wearing them down but fear the "hot neck" once they get longer lol. im just afraid they might unravel or that the ends will look strange.
