During the story, Veronica asks rhetorically who would possibly want to date Betty Cooper. Immediately Jughead begins to rattle off the names of boys until Veronica orders him to stop. Among the names he rattles off are Richard (Goldwater), Dan (DeCarlo), Frank (Doyle), George (Gladir), Barry (Grossman), Garry (?), and Bill (Yoshida?), all Archie Comics contributors.
The plot is recycled from the 1977 Reggie and Me story "A Chip Off the Old Block", with a beach setting instead of the ski slopes.
