Description:

This second incarnation of the Suicide Squad was put under the umbrella of Task Force X, a United States secret agency. Based at Belle Reve Prison in Louisiana, the group was headed up by Amanda Waller, a ruthless, intimidating political figure. The team consisted of hardened metahuman prisoners who were given lighter sentences or promises of a pardon in exchange for risking their lives on perilous missions. It was usually field-led by Rick Flag Jr., leader of the original group.

The modern incarnation of Task Force X first appeared in Legends (DC, 1986 series) #2 (December 1986); first named The Suicide Squad in issue #3 (January 1987).
