The Katzenjammer Kids (English)

The Katzenjammer Kids, created by Rudolph Dirks, ran from December 12, 1897, to March 16, 1913, and May 17, 1914, to January 1, 2006. From 2006 to the present, The Katzenjammer Kids are still syndicated internationally but in reprints only.

The comic strip was syndicated by W. R. Hearst from December 12, 1897, to March 1904; American-Journal-Examiner from March 1904 to October 20, 1912; Star Company from October 27, 1912, to May 1914; Newspaper Feature Service from May 1914 to August 1914; Star Company from August 1914 to September 14, 1919; and King Features Syndicate from June 4, 1917, to the present. Also syndicated by the International Feature Service, from September 21, 1919, to sometime in the 1920s.

The daily version seems to have run from May 28, 1917, to sometime during 1919.

Dirks was the creator of the comic strip from its start until March 16, 1913, when he sued William Randolph Hearst over the ownership of the strip.

Hearst won the lawsuit and the comic strip restarted on May 17, 1914, with unknown creators working on it. Harold Knerr took over the Sunday comic strip starting on November 29, 1914 and continued on it until December 25, 1949.

Oscar Hitt did the daily comic strip during its entire 1917 to 1919 run.

Doc Winner took over the Sunday strip from January 1, 1950, to July 22, 1956.

From July 29, 1956, to July 31, 1977, Joe Musial continued on the Sunday strip.

Mike Senich continued on the Sunday strip from August 7, 1977, to 1982.

Angelo DeCesare worked on the Sunday strip from 1982 to 1986.

Hy Eisman finished the original run of the Sunday comic from 1986 to January 1, 2006.
