Crispus Allen first appeared in Detective Comics (DC, 1937 series) #742 (March 2000). He died in Gotham Central (DC, 2003 series) #38 (February 2006). Crispus was chosen as the new host of The Spectre in Infinite Crisis (DC, 2005 series) #4 (March 2006), appearing for the first time as The Spectre in issue #6 (May 2006).
