Barry Allen is a criminologist who became the second Flash when he was simultaneously struck by lightning and doused with chemicals. Husband of Iris West. Father of Don and Dawn Allen (the Tornado Twins). Grandfather of Bart Allen (Impulse / Kid Flash) and Jenni Ognats (XS). Former mentor of Wallace "Wally" West (Kid Flash, son of Rudy and Mary West) and Wallace "Ace" West (Kid Flash, son of Daniel West).

• He married Iris West in The Flash (DC, 1959 series) #165 (November 1966).
• Iris was murdered by the Reverse-Flash in The Flash (DC, 1959 series) #275 (July 1979), however her soul was rescued and transplanted into another body as shown in The Flash (DC, 1959 series) #350 (October 1985).
• Barry killed the Reverse-Flash to stop him from murdering Barry's fiancée Fiona Webb, as shown in The Flash (DC, 1959 series) #324 (August 1983).
• Barry sacrificed his life to save the Multiverse in Crisis on Infinite Earths (DC, 1985 series) #8 (November 1985).
