Description:

When Ted Knight (Starman) suffered a mental breakdown, Dr. Charles McNider (Doctor Mid-Nite) replaced him as Starman. McNider posed as Starman from January 1951 through November 1951, then trained the time-traveling David Knight (Starman) as his replacement.

Notes:

The mysterious Starman of 1951 was first mentioned in The Shade's Journal in Starman (DC, 1994 series) #2 (December 1994). He first appeared in a cameo and a profile page in Starman Secret Files (DC, 1998 series) #1 (April 1998). His first full appearance in a story was in Starman 80-Page Giant (DC, 1999 series) #1 (January 1999). It was revealed in Starman (DC, 1994 series) #77 (May 2001) that the Starman of 1951 was Dr. Charles McNider (Doctor Mid-Nite) from January through November, and that a time-traveling David Knight took over from him for December.
