Boss Maroni was a mobster on trial for murder in Gotham City. The Districy Attorney, Harvey Dent, was the prosecutor at the trial. When D.A. Dent produced his evidence, Maroni's two-headed silver dollar found at the murder scene with Maroni's fingerprints on it, an enraged Maroni threw a vial of acid at Kent. The acid struck the left side of D.A. Dent's face, scarring him both physically and mentally. Harvey Dent descended into madness and became the criminal named Two-Face. Two-Face scarred one side of Maroni's two-headed coin, and would flip it to decide whether or not he would commit an act of evil.
