Description:

Princess Amethyst was born on Gemworld, located in a magical dimension, to Lord and Lady Amethyst. When the princess was still a baby, her parents were killed by Dark Opal. She was hidden on Earth by a witch named Citrina, and was adopted by Herbert and Marion Winston, who named her Amy. Amy discovered her true lineage on her thirteenth birthday, and whenever she traveled to Gemworld she was magically transformed into an adult.

Notes:

Amethyst first appeared in The Legion of Super-Heroes (DC, 1980 series) #298 (April 1983).

When she was introduced in the New 52 continuity in Sword of Sorcery (DC, 2012 series) #0 (November 2012), she was given the birthname Amaya.
