Nathaniel Adam first appeared as Captain Atom in Captain Atom (DC, 1987 series) #1 (March 1987). He was driven insane and became Monarch in Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bludhaven (DC, 2006 series) #6 (September 2006). He was last seen as Monarch in Countdown (DC, 2007 series) #13 (March 2008). When he returned as Captain Atom in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #879 (September 2009), his sanity was restored but his memory was jumbled.
