Hey administrators! I've noticed that there are transcripts for all episodes of The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight, but not for The Jim Henson Hour. Since only four are complete while the others are in the works, maybe it would help to update the rest. That way it could make things easier to identify who said what and which performer did who, if that makes sense.
What do you people think? -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 00:40, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that would help! For now, I would ask that you start one in the Category:Sandbox namespace. —Scott

- Thanks for the approval, Scott. I think the transcripts for Episode 103: Power, Episode 105: First Show, Episode 107: Fitness, and Episode 109: Garbage can be moved into the sandbox before starting. And the one for Episode 104: Dog City would have to be undeleted as well. -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 16:28, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Scott, I've started the updates on the transcripts of the four episodes above by dividing the segments. You administrators are welcome to edit them if something's wrong. -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 01:20, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Admins, I've removed all of the commercial parts of the transcripts for the four episodes mentioned above. Do you guys think you can help me format them into the same styles as the ones from Episode 101: Outer Space, Episode 102: Oceans, Episode 106: Monster Maker, and Episode 108: Videotape? -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 17:26, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Not to worry Scott, I've already started the formatting yesterday. There are now contents on the four transcripts in the works. I only need help with the scripting parts. -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 18:04, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- I checked the four transcripts in the works, everything is accurate. Maybe User:MuppetVJ can help update them when he gets a chance. And the Episode 104: Dog City transcript still has to be undeleted. -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 17:26, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Undeleting the Dog City transcript won't help. You'd be better off just creating a new sandbox with the same title (you can click to ignore the warning that you're recreating a deleted page) and transcribing the dialogue yourself. We deleted it because it was incomprehensible nonsense, worse than a blank slate, and any words or sentences that were correct were by accident almost: "Chip around. You gotta take this crazy town Hustlers, hucksters, gamblers, fools, gangsters making all the rules. One extra step. We forgot the low point. Everybody wants to go dancing. Everybody wants to go dancing" or "You did you even I think Senator Jim DeMint. You did. You present me with the midst contract is a committee. Could they both can you can you get a." And so on. Bad bot results.
- Take a look at Muppet Wiki:Transcripts and Muppet Wiki:Transcript format if you need help. Going by our commercially available policy, not sure how much we're enforcing that now that The Muppet Show is on Disney+, but by that standard, the Dog City transcript arguably should be just the introduction and closing scenes (whatever isn't on the DVD/legally streaming versions). That's something we haven't discussed since we made that rule years ago, as it predated the current streaming landscape. -- Andrew

- That's good to know Andrew. I had no idea about the reason behind the deleted sandbox. This info could be helpful for the four transcripts in the works. But I'll need some help on one of them, just to study how you guys do it if that's ok. -- User:Reidtaub (User_talk:Reidtaub) 02:41, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Hey Admins, when either of you get a chance to, would you take a look at my edits to The Jim Henson Hour transcripts I've been doing last month, including the sandboxed ones? I just want to make sure I've updated them correctly and the minor characters have the right voice ID. It doesn't have to be now, just whenever you guys can. -- Reid (talk) 00:27, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Updating Remaining 3 in Works
Admins, I've updated the transcript for Episode 103: Power. It is now complete and in the same format as the other finished ones. I also did a little clean up and updating for Episode 102: Oceans. -- Reid(Talk) 20:16, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hey Scott, do you think that User:MuppetVJ can help me update the First Show, Fitness, and Garbage transcripts when he gets a chance to. After all, he did make all the transcripts for The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight. It doesn't have to be now, just when he's available. I've already taken care of the second half intros and the closings for those three episodes, I just need help with the MuppeTelevision, Miss Piggy's Hollywood, and Song of the Cloud Forest bits. -- Reid (talk) 02:16, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, the transcript for Episode 105: First Show is now complete, well the MuppeTelevision half is. I might need some help doing the Miss Piggy's Hollywood part of the transcript. -- Reid (talk) 00:24, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Admins, the transcript for Episode 107: Fitness is now fully updated. I'll do the Miss Piggy's Hollywood half of Episode 105: First Show tonight and update the transcript for Episode 109: Garbage tomorrow. What do you admins think of the work I've been doing on the transcripts? -- Reid (talk) 21:06, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Sandboxing Transcripts
Hey guys, I've made a transcript of Episode 111: Living with Dinosaurs in the sandbox. That one seemed easy since it only contains the introduction and closing scenes, just like Episode 106: Monster Maker. But making sandboxes for Dog City, Food, and especially Secrets of the Muppets will be a lot harder. It's not the lines; it's the actions that will be difficult. -- Reid (talk) 17:45, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- So far so good. It will be good to have some community checks and consensus before any of these move forward. As for the three you mentioned, don't worry about stage directions. Those are script elements, but not necessarily transcript elements. If it helps, I can run them through a speech recognition process and post in a sandbox with all the errors. That may or not be a better place to start; your mileage may vary. —Scott

- Guys, I just made another transcript in the sandbox, Episode 112: Food. I've added the intro, Storyteller intro, and outro bits, but it might take me a while to do the MuppeTelevision bits. By the way, if I'm going to make a sandbox of Episode 104: Dog City, do I need to include the special part, or just put in the intro, outro, and MuppeTelevision bit? -- Reid (talk) 19:40, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
