I was under the impression that the way the Character Evolution pages work is, we say the name of the production that the image comes from and in parentheses we say the years that a design was in use. For instance, Grundgetta Through the Years. The third image says the picture comes from Season 15 but the parentheses say the puppet was used from 81-84. So is it okay if I change Big Bird Through the Years to say the specific productions that these three images come from? Anthony (talk) 11:02, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not the best person to chime in on the "Through the Years" topics because I don't always see the variations that others do and I think the differences are easy to violate NPOV. However, yes, I think at bare minimum, the pictures used, production being cited, and years referenced should all match. —Scott

- I'm not too familiar with these pages either, but in the case of Big Bird Through the Years (disregarding any other Through the Years pages for now), it looks like it gives a timeframe of the puppet used and uses a picture from within that time frame, not from the first production it was used in. For example, "Season 13 (1982-1988)" uses a picture from Follow That Bird and the text clarifies why that's appropriate. So, it seems when you take the full text into account, the Big Bird through the Years page does all match. - Maddox

- I'd brought this up before, and at the time, only Ant and I were involved in the discussion. I asked Ant where that impression he mentioned came from, and he said, "It's my interpretation. For example, Fozzie Bear Through the Years" as his basis for changes to the Big Bird page. That discussion was last year, and it's here. So basically we never have got everyone on the same page on the Through the Years articles. I tried to stress the importance of consensus, but none was reached. So Ant just kept using his interpreted approach to the same page. Now would be a good time for us to thresh this out as even a rough guideline rather than how any individual editor thinks it should work. And as I mentioned in the old discussion, there's just a general inconstistency and varying patterns to those pages anyway, and several need more specifics anyway. -- Andrew
