Description
Isolation counters first appeared on Quarantine Field in Battle for Zendikar. It is an enchantment that enters the battlefield with an Isolation counter for every two mana spent after the second. It will then exile nonland permanents for each isolation counter on it as an imprisoning effect; that is to say, until the enchantment leaves the battlefield, at which point the exiled permanents are returned to play. Its name represents its effect in that the permanents are being isolated while it is in play.
Trivia
- In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as its considered a positive effect and shares its icon with Age, Depletion, Delay, Eon, Fade, Hour, Hourglass, and Time counters.[1]
- The rules for X used to be that unless a marker was created by X, a permanent would not remember X once it entered the battlefield. This was changed by the time of Throne of Eldraine with Gadwick, the Wizened.
