Hunter

Hunter is an obsolete creature type and job used to represent creatures who hunt something, often animals, people, or artifacts.

Hunter debuted as a creature type on Witch Hunter (The Dark), which appeared as a human from Terisiare on Dominaria dressed in robes and a round hat who hunted witchs. It was used again on Abyssal Hunter, who was a human assassin and minion who hunted with daggers. With the release of Sixth Edition, Hunter was changed to Minion (and later changed to human assassin) on the Abyssal Hunter, while Witch Hunter retained the type.[1] With the release of Time Spiral, Hunter on Witch Hunter was given errata to be Human Cleric making the type obsolete. This was due to “Hunters” in Magic being represented as a variety of types, including but not limited to Archers, Assassins, and Warriors.[2]

The Hero's Path decks featured a Hero card known as The Hunter while Bloomburrow introduced a class known as Hunter's Talent.

Arcavios

Arcavios is home to creatures known as the Mage Hunter, which are a horrifying creature from the continent of Galathul that can sense magic and are used as tools of the Oriq.[3]

Avishkar

During the Ghirapur Grand Prix, Chandra was called a Spark Hunter during her attempt to get the Aetherspark.[4]

Dominaria

Vorosh was a dragon known as the Hunter created from the Temporal crisis of Dominaria.[5]

Duskmourn

Rip is a survivor and experienced monster hunter on Duskmourn known as the Spawn Hunter. She was once a member of the Doorblades, a small band of hunters committed to eradicating the monsters plaguing the House. However, she eventually parted ways with them after realizing that the bonds she formed were dulling her instincts and effectiveness as a hunter.[6]

Ikoria

Leori is a female elemental patagia tiger bonded to Lukka known as the Sparktouched Hunter.[7][8]

Kamigawa

Shisato was an orochi renegade from the time of the Kami War known as the Whispering Hunter who hunted Dosan's monks.[9][10].[11]

Ravnica

Kaya is known as the Geist Hunter[12]

Tarkir

Surrak is known as the Elusive Hunter and is the one responsible for leading hunting missions as specified by the Dragonlord, and her chief feeder.[13].[14]

Unknown plane

Garruk Wildspeaker is known as the Primal Hunter[15]
