Ariella was sitting on the sofa furthest away from the lit fireplace, because being so close to the kitchens kept the common room quite warm. Her Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook was open flat on her lap and she deeply immersed in the passage on werewolves and the detailed description of their transformation. Ari was very passionate about all kinds of magical creatures, including the ones the wizarding community was most frightened of. In fact, it was her main goal in life to work in the Werewolf Support Services or the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau at the Ministry.
She was so engrossed in the reading that she hardly noticed anyone sit down beside her. It wasn't until they spoke that she looked up startled, before breaking into a smile.
