[update] it is safe to say, i think, that my brain is fried.
You know the humidity is bad when the room is actually cooler when you close the verandah door, as compared to when you keep it open. These last few nights, I've kept mine closed. I sleep better that way.
Summers in this country are murder. Not because the weather teases you with the promise of rain, though it does that often. They're murder because when the heatwave hits, it's bad and it lasts as long as summer chooses to stay.
I hope this lets up by the end of this month. I don't think I can take it if this goes past June like last year did.

On work.
Spent 12 hours at the office yesterday.
The backlog of cases was pretty ridiculous and there was a call to render overtime. I received the text from Boss while I was getting dressed in the morning and I was hoping that by the time I logged in for my shift it wouldn't be as bad as the text went.
Obviously, I was I figured wrong.
There are so few of us on the weekend, because while we run 24-7, the volume is significantly less on Saturdays and Sundays. Mostly we come in and process a steady but reasonable stream of emails and are on standby for important calls. So when something crazy like Friday's backlog crops up, sometimes, the most you can do is whisper a prayer at the back of your head that the time passes quickly or that people come in to render extra hours to help out.
I don't usually render overtime unless it's absolutely necessary. The team knows this. They know I value my time out of the office and that I need it or I go a little crazy in the head. Some of them know this for themselves because they get that way too.
But yes, yesterday I spent three addidional hours and went home so exhausted I fell asleep after what little dinner I felt. I had hoped to move a couple more files into Yanagi (this would be my Terrabyte external drive who I acquired earlier last week and need to properly introduce), but really, my head was just about ready to roll off my shoulders so, no.
From 9am-9pm, we managed to cut the quantity down by half, taking a three-digit backlog down to two digits. There was still a whole lot leftover by the time I logged out, but the guys who volunteered to come in for the late shifts had come in and I think, based on the way I looked, they had a valid reason to tell me to just go home.
One of those officemates is E. I barely get to see her anymore because she works nights and I'm in the morning. We crossed paths in the parking lot before my shift yesterday. I am not kidding when I say that she was more than just a little surprised to see me still at my station when she came in for pre-shift overtime that night.
It was, however, rewarding to see the zero on the war board when I went in today. System downtime also meant that we wouldn't be hectic. Officemate J laughed at my reaction when he informed me that yes, we could kick back and let our brains recuperate. It only seemed fair that today we'd be able to decently breathe.
To celebrate, they were ordering Persia Grill for lunch. They asked if I wanted in. They didn't have to ask me twice.

On fandoms I just can't quit nor would I ever want to
a.k.a. my friends are brilliant, ridiculous and made of utter WIN.
(This will be very short because my brain is dead from this heat.)
I've sort of realized that one of the keys to me enjoying writing again is the whole idea of sharing my ideas with friends who not only understand the crazy but who encourage it.
Rika
I think the amount of collective flail that has been going round and round can be summed up in the amount of ridiculous RikkaiHigh/TGT spam that has gone around on Plurk, and the sheer amount of compiled information, character production, and collective shenanigans (DID I MENTION I LOVE THAT THE COMMENTS HAVE COLLAPSED *V*) that is now housed on Dreamwidth.
And those are just my links. I would include the spam Em made and the chart Cyn put together and the FILES ON GOOGLE DOCS BUT YOU KNOW. *3*
I am just so ridiculously happy that you guys are on-board for this and that the crazy is making the rounds in a timely fashion. Said crazy is, after all, enough to negate the headaches and near-hysterical ramblings that come in the wake of trying to make sense of a canon source that defies physics, ignores logic, and occasionally contradicts itself.
--this is the part where I go *v* and say ILUEMUSOAWESUM because on Sundays when we have system downtime, all she and I ever seem to do is organize and make sense of whatever needs making sense of.
--and then of course there is Cyn who wrote Asari-An-start-of-friendship-fic which
--and Rika. Lol. HI BB. That ship is officially sailing into open sea
And... there is more but god I hate this heat I cannot flail properly so I will opt instead to commemorate the BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER IN ITS BRILLIANT AND AWESOME GLORY.
