DJ Nerds: I love day parties. At Interfusion, these take place in a tiny, awkwardly shaped room. Dark & intimate, it's the ideal place to connect with the room as a DJ as no dancer is more than about 20 feet from the booth. The room started packed with dancers eager to play and connect so, instead of my usual strategies for starting a party (easy, upbeat, accessible music), we jumped right into music selected for both familiarity as well as the space to express and flow. Because of the busy floor, I also kept the tempo slow and consistent, relying on genre and vibe to develop the arc, rather than speed.
