For my opening set at Coachella’s Sahara stage this year, I picked only the cream of the crop house remixes to take festival goers through a journey from 1960s- 1990s classic funk, disco, techno, and pop tunes that I grew up listening to on radio stations like KIIS 102.7 in Los Angeles, especially highlighting the legendary Black female vocalists and iconic tracks from the 90s that helped make dance music what it is today. The result was a funky, nostalgic and fun start at the Sahara stage as people started to gather for the day. Thanks to all the talented creators of these tunes, everyone behind the scenes who helped make this moment happen and everyone who came out and vibed to the set!
