Commends covers the spectrum of electronic, avant-garde, free, fried, fucked, etc. sound that has informed and similarly circulated through the RVNG Intl. label catalog over the past several years. Inspired in part by the RIO – or Rock in Opposition – movement lead by Henry Cow in the late 70s and its Recommended Records (RēR) label off shoot, RVNG’s NTS radio show posits a progressive program (but not necessarily progressive rock) in which artists across disciplines could - and should - collide over a two hour salvo.
