This Global Information Brief (GIB) provides an overview of the UN Network on Migration and the key elements of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM). It summarizes the Network’s core structures and progress on GCM implementation and provides a global update in preparation for the International Migration Review Forum 2026.

This report builds on the regional reviews of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration written inputs, and consultations with Member States, stakeholders and United Nations entities.

A pledge is a measurable commitment to advance the implementation of one or more GCM guiding principles, objectives, or actions.

The UN Secretary-General’s recommendations aim to save lives through risk reduction, better responses, improved identification, family support, justice, and stronger data. Action is needed now.

This Guidance provides key considerations, guiding questions, concrete actions and examples for governments and other stakeholders to support the inclusion of the GCM in voluntary reviews of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
