Mental Wellness Festival

Summary

Celebrating the completion of National Mental Health Awareness month. A grass roots mental health & wellness festival inclusive of a unique Mental Health Art exhibit (client submitted), "Growing Works" Horticultural Garden exhibit (client-cultivated), uplifting live music, yoga & meditation sessions, fun activities (for all ages), community service & program booths + a blend of cultural, holistic, therapeutic & spiritual wellness related vendors. Objective: To raise awareness about mental health and share mental wellness pathways in our community that support, maintain and/or improve our mental health.

Share your message on the "Mental Wellness Means to Me" wall! Every year a blank wall is placed in the middle of the festival. Colored markers, pens and other drawing supplies are provided. The end result is a community work of art! What does mental wellness mean to you?

Feel relaxed, be free from stress with this energy healing opportunity! Meet Tomoko from Two Moon Child! She is a Reiki & Karuna Reiki Explorer, and Metatron Colour Healing practitioner. She offers various monthly Sound Bath meditations at Ventura & Camarillo Buddhist Centers, and Ventura Yoga Studio. Tomoko will be facilitating "Metatron Colour Healing Sound Bath and Sacred Geomy Gong Bath" sessions at the Mental Wellness Festival. Perfect for the beautiful Ventura Harbor Village grass lawn area! The sessions will be from 11 am - 12 pm and 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm. Bring your blanket or yoga mat!

Orchard Bluegrass Band!

Entertaining audiences of all ages in Southern California forover 10 years with a unique blend of bluegrass, gospel, country and western music. They have played at such venues as the Reagan Ranch, Ventura County Fair, Underwood Family Farms Pumpkin Patch in Moorpark, Limoneira Family Farm Pumpkin Patch in Santa Paula, Gilchrist Family Farm Pumpkin Patch in Santa Clarita, TPC in Santa Clarita and the Cowboy Festival Breakfast in Santa Clarita. Orchard is led by Jimmy Mac, the featured vocalist and instrumentalist. He plays banjo, mandolin and guitar. Jimmy is a professional musician, singer and producer, who's also the worship leader at Orchard Community Church in Ventura.

Growing Works Garden Exhibit

Growing Works is an innovative, wholesale plant nursery and mental wellness program within Turning Point Foundation that provides job training, employment, volunteer opportunities, recovery services, and hands-on horticultural work experience to people with mental health challenges. Come visit and take a photo with Doc and Mater! "Scott had his truck outside and some kids said Tow Mater. He asked them what they meant and then rented the movie "Cars" and made his truck look like Tow Mater. I parked next to him on our 1st and 3rd Saturdays at the Thousand Oaks mall With my Blue 1949 Ford and some kids called my car Doc Hudson. So, I decorated it like Doc Hudson. We also attend many Autism shows and Make em smile events. The smiles from those children would melt your heart." - Ken Johnson

The Ventura County Behavioral Health Department (VCBH) provides mental health and substance use treatment services. VCBH plays an important role as an integrated component of the Ventura County Health Care Agency. The Crisis and Referral Line (1-866-998-2243) is the entry point for access to all VCBH Services. Individuals needing health services or who are experiencing a mental health crisis should call this number. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We provide support for individuals and families who are in crisis; people considering suicide; or those struggling with mental illness, substance use, or both.

Mission: VCBH is committed to reducing stigma and discrimination. We promote wellness through a whole-person care approach where clients and families are empowered by appropriate, accessible, timely, culturally sensitive, and collaborative behavioral health services.
