In the Kelvin timeline, T'Laya was a 23rd century cadet at Starfleet Academy in the 2250s decade. Although T'Laya joined Starfleet as a Vulcan, she was in fact a Romulan agent. She was a classmate of James T. Kirk.
Biography
To cover for her lack of the characteristic Vulcan logic training, T'Laya claimed to have had an unusual background that made her much more emotionally open than most Vulcans. (TOS - SA novel: The Gemini Agent)
