Psychology was the science that studied the mental processes and behavior of humans and other races and cultures. One who studies the subject is generally known as an psychologist.

In 2269, when Mantilles was threatened with destruction by a cosmic cloud creature, Captain James T. Kirk asked Dr. Leonard McCoy for an expert medical opinion on mass psychology; however, McCoy denied being an expert in the subject.
