Phoenix process

The Phoenix Process was a method of using transporter technology to create perfect duplicates of people, essentially resurrecting them after death. The Process was developed by Omne, who used it to fake James T. Kirk's death and threatened to use it to spread chaos within the Federation. Omne also used the Process to duplicate himself in order to survive his own suicide. (TOS novel: The Price of the Phoenix)
