Nickel

Nickel (symbol Ni) is a chemical element, a metal with atomic number 28 on the periodic table.

Characteristics and history

Nickel has an atomic mass of 58.71, and was discovered by Humans on Earth's European continent for the first time in the year 1751, in Sweden. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

Nickel is a good signal when mining for latinum crystals as they typically form near deposits of the metal. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky)
