Latrobe was a Human man. He served in Starfleet aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk in the 2260s.
History
In 2270, Latrobe, Spock, and security guard Bemis crewed an Enterprise shuttlecraft. They sought a top-secret Starfleet weapon hidden in a missing shuttle from the USS Yorktown, which crash landed somewhere on sparsely populated Mevinna. Pyretimite on the class M planet disrupted scanners and communications, forcing flyover searches. Latrobe spotted what looked like a crash site after searching for nearly ten hours. After landing and searching for 15 minutes, Bemis called Latrobe to point out something. Both were suddenly disintegrated as a force field formed directly on top of them. It had been activated by renegade Andorians intent on finding the weapon. (TOS - The New Voyages short story: "The Enchanted Pool")
