In the 23rd century, Federation starships such as the USS Enterprise had lithium crystals governing a fuel reaction of matter and antimatter. (TOS episode: "Mudd's Women")
Other modifications of Federation starships and contemporaries used dilithium to regulate the reaction consuming matter and antimatter fuel.
In 2267, Allura claimed that her flivver was out of fuel. This was a ruse so that she could get aboard the Enterprise, but Spock uncovered the deception when he attempted to refuel the ship and found it fully fueled. (TOS comic: "The Hijacked Planet")
