Deneb IX

Deneb IX (known to the native population as Alpha Cygnus IX) was a Class M planet located in the Alpha Cygnus system. It was the homeworld of a space-faring, warlike neo-Bandi culture. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Core Game Book)

History and specifics

In 2269, James T. Kirk, Spock and Leonard McCoy experienced a holographic simulation of Deneb IX aboard the starship USS Enterprise using holo-pods, a nascent holodeck technology. One very large moon was visible, and the surface was tinted by the blue light of its star. McCoy commented that it was a convincing simulation. (TOS - New Visions comic: "Like a Shadow... Like a Dream")

Of the two Deneb stars, the hologram was assumed to be of Alpha Cygnus IX, rather than Deneb Kaitos IX, because ST reference: Star Charts specified that Deneb Kaitos was a G class yellow star with only six planets. The A class blue-white supergiant star Alpha Cygni better fit the imagery seen in the simulation.

In the 24th century, the Deneb natives signed a treaty with Ambassador Sarek that improved stability throughout the sector. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Core Game Book)
