A cold war is a period of extended tension between opposing factions in which no actual direct combat occurs between the two parties.
Cold wars
- Earth Cold War - A protracted period of high tension between a number of nation-states on Earth following World War II.
- Federation-Klingon Cold War - A period of tension between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire in the late 23rd century.
- Bajoran-Cardassian cold war - A period of mixed tensions between the Bajoran people (with support from the United Federation) and the Cardassian Union after their occupation of Bajor.
- Dominion Cold War - A period of blossoming tensions between the United Federation and the Dominion before the outbreak of total war.
- Temporal Cold War - A protracted struggle between a number of time-traveling factions, which had effects from the 20th through to the 31st century.
- Typhon Pact - The tense political relationship between the newly established Typhon Pact and the United Federation of Planets and its Khitomer Accords allies was often described as a "Cold War".
