Edition


An edition was a specific version of a piece of literature that was denoted by its date and/or edition number.

In 2261, Spock gave Christine Chapel a first edition copy of the Saltavantur. (SNW: "Wedding Bell Blues")

In 2365, the definition of the word "android" from a fifth edition copy of Webster's 24th Century Dictionary was cited by Data during a hearing to decide whether he ought to be disassembled for study or not. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man")

The alien boy Latika threatened Tom Paris to write about him in next week's edition of his school journal. (VOY: "Time and Again")

In 2375, Valerie Archer was reading a replication of a 21st century edition of Hesterman's Beyond the Galactic Edge, Humanity's Quest for Infinity. (VOY: "In the Flesh")

As of 2401, Jean-Luc Picard owned a first edition paper book of The Many and the One, which he kept in his personal library at Château Picard. (PIC: "The Star Gazer")
