Ballet was a specific type of dance. Performances of this dance were called ballets. The female dancers were called ballerinas. It was important for ballerinas to have good arches in their feet. (DS9: "Armageddon Game")

As a child, before she was taken by the Gorn, La'An Noonien-Singh took ballet and dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina. (SNW: "Wedding Bell Blues")

In 2261, La'An taught Spock how to dance using her previous ballet experience and told him about her former dream of becoming a ballerina. La'An joked that "somehow, the Gorn are less ravenous than prima ballerinas." (SNW: "Wedding Bell Blues")

In 2364, a crew member of the USS Enterprise-D hallucinated that she was a ballet dancer while the Enterprise-D was at the edge of the known universe. (TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before")

Julian Bashir was once in love with a ballerina named Palis Delon. The relationship ended when Bashir graduated from Starfleet Academy and accepted a posting on Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Armageddon Game")

Kathryn Janeway performed The Dying Swan during Talent Night aboard the USS Voyager in 2373. She had learned the dance while taking Beginning Ballet classes when she was six years old. (VOY: "Coda")

As the child Annika Hansen, Seven of Nine dreamed of one day becoming a ballerina. In 2376, she dismissed this to Chakotay as having been a "juvenile fantasy," but Chakotay commented that "Those are the ones that stick with you." (VOY: "One Small Step")
