Two families who once attended the Miami-Dade Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony to honor fallen officers returned this year to speak from the podium after losing loved ones in the line of duty. Eileen Cajuso and David Jaramillo reflected on their personal grief and the enduring legacy of Sgt. David Cajuso and Deputy Devin Jaramillo during the 45th annual ceremony at Tropical Park.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Agricultural Patrol Section has significantly reduced produce theft and horse slaughter crimes, cutting incidents in half since 2023 through targeted investigations. Their efforts disrupted organized criminal networks and earned recognition for key detectives involved in the operation.
A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was critically injured after being struck by a DUI driver on the Florida Turnpike, but body camera footage shows he likely saved another officer’s life moments before impact. After multiple surgeries and months of rehabilitation, the deputy was honored for his bravery and recognized for his ongoing commitment to helping others.
