Trend in Children’s Graphic Novels
Some of today’s most popular children’s fiction series have been adapted into graphic novels!
Some of these series have been in graphic novel form for a while, such as:
In the last year or so, even more series have been added, including:
- The Boxcar Children (new series in August)
- The Lemonade War
- Desmond Cole Ghost Patrol
- Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library
- Junie B. Jones
Some parents might want their children to read text-only books, but for kids who are reluctant readers, these books may be the bridge they need to read more text-heavy books.
Spencer Nellis in his Children and Libraries (2025) article states, “graphic novels meet readers where they are, enhancing comprehension, fostering empathy, and making learning an immersive experience.”
Rather than replacing traditional books, graphic novels can guide reluctant readers toward a lifelong love of reading!
