About our Academic Programs

Graduate Programs: The Mathematics Department offers two graduate degrees: the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree and the Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. Both begin with graduate course sequences in algebra, geometry, and analysis. These serve as the foundation for research, and for specialized graduate courses complementing our department research strengths. Department seminars bring together graduate students, faculty, and visiting mathematicians from around the world. Professional development in pedagogy and research is incorporated throughout the programs.

Undergraduate Programs: The Mathematics Department offers both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in mathematics, and a Minor in Mathematics. Distinct undergraduate degree programs prepare math majors for graduate study, teaching, and industry. Undergraduates belong to the department community, are welcome at tea and seminars, and enjoy their own undergraduate colloquium.
