Capacity Planning
Materialize uses two concepts for capacity and pricing. How much capacity you need depends on your workload and performance requirements. This table shows the resources associated with each cluster size.
Clusters are pools of compute resources for running workloads, sized from M.1-nano to M.1-8xlarge.
Compute Credits measure the cost to run a cluster per hour - for example, an M.1-small cluster costs 6 Compute Credits per hour.
Please Note: The values set forth in the table are solely for illustrative purposes. Materialize reserves the right to change the capacity and free trial availability at any time. As such, you acknowledge and agree that those values in this table may change at any time, and you should not rely on these values for any capacity planning.

Choose Cloud for fully managed infrastructure with zero operational overhead—we handle upgrades, scaling, and monitoring. Choose Self-Managed if you want to run in your own environment and keep data within your network.
Cloud Capacity is an annual plan where you prepay for spend to use against compute, storage, and networking costs. This plan offers volume discounts and includes priority support and guided onboarding.
Cloud On-Demand is a pay-as-you-go plan where you're billed monthly for compute, storage, and networking costs. This plan includes support via chatbot and helpdesk tickets, with self-service setup.
Our Community License is free forever for deployments up to 24GiB memory and 48GiB disk, while our Enterprise License is an annual commitment based on memory and disk needs. Community License users get support from our Slack community of developers and data engineers, while an Enterprise License includes priority support from Materialize with access to engineers and optional SLAs.
