a few things
1. Heard on the radio Patrick Stewart was knighted yesterday...he just looks like he should be called Sir Patrick, don't you think? I think Patrick Stewart is great -- I mean who else was could you imagine playing Professor X and personally I always prefered Picard over Kirk.
2. Got an Amazon gift card for Christmas, so I decided to use it to try and catch up on Buffy Season 8 and realized I'm far more behind than I realized -- there are like 6 volumes out now and I've read all of 1. So I got two and three and finished 2 and am about half way through or a third through 3 and I have one question: (spoilery if you haven't read) when did Buffy go gay? That was from left field for me. Maybe I need to go back and read Vol. 1 but I did not see that coming. I actually think having her hook up with Xander would be more believable because they did set them up as "Mom and Dad" during season 7 (even though I always kind liked the fact that Xander never got Buffy because it made him very much grounded as the real guy of the group).
I know alot of people had issue when Willow was suddenly gay, but if you watch the whole series then you see Joss does try to give us hints in "Dopplegangland" and the whole "and I think I'm kinda gay" thing. But Buffy -- don't see it. plUs it makes me sorry for this girl -- Buffy does have a history of using people for sex when she's feeling lost (one reason why I didn't want to see her hook up with Xander).
And poor Xander -- I thumbed through the rest of three and they're going to kill another love interest of his. Come on! The guy already lost an eye -- can we give him a girlfriend that doesn't get cut in half. I'm just saying.
Surprisingly, I did like Giles and Faith working together. It makes sense because Giles has his dark side and has always tried to prevent Buffy from doing anything that would compromise soul (like him killing Ben at the end of season 5).
3. I hope every one has a safe and happy New Year. I have a big Hindu baby shower to go to Saturday, which should be interesting...I've never heard of a baby shower with 200 people. My friend thinks her mom is going all out since she didn't get to do a wedding.
