Overview

Society will engage central questions of the contemporary world: socio-political, economic, cultural, religious, and environmental crisis and inequality.

Our six issues a year offer new ideas and research from the social sciences and humanities in what we hope is an intellectually accessible, robust style, showcasing work from sociology, history, political science, anthropology, philosophy, economics, literature, communications, and cultural, environmental, and area studies. We seek to publish diverse approaches and genres: research articles, theoretical pieces, shorter commentaries and discussions, round tables, and book reviews are all welcome. Submissions should be accessible to readers from diverse countries and disciplines. That interdisciplinary approach is reflected in some of our authors, such as Simone de Beauvoir, Robert Merton, Margaret Mead, Abraham Maslow, Claude Lévi-Strauss, Hans Morgenthau, David Riesman, Marilyn Strathern, Philip Pettit, and Simon Blackburn.

We especially encourage contributions from Latin America, Africa, the Pacific, and Asia as part of our commitment to research and comment from the Global South. At the same time, we acknowledge the importance of work done in the Global North and invite that, too.
